Help on sandy paint and trim discoloration

hey everyone,

first time poster here, in the market for a MCS, and found one I like. It is a 2004 mini, took it to a car wash however, the paint has a sandy feel after the wash. Also, the black trim has noticeable white fading marks on it. I believe both of these problems are minor correct? just need a good clay wax and some trim formula to apply to the trim to darken it again?

just want to make sure b4 I commit. Also, is $15500 a good deal for a used 2004 MCS? it's got 24k miles on it.

thx,

Yes they're both minor problems. Clay should take care of the gritty feel to the paint, and the white marks on the trim can be fixed with Black Wow.

Sounds like a pretty good deal - have you taken it to a shop to be looked over?

nah not yet, did a carfax, everything is clean,
test drove it and took a peak under the hood and
everything seemed pretty good.

how important do you think is to have a mechanic
take another look at it? the seller seemed honest,
and everything checked out. I am very tempted.

Like ML said, both issues are minor.

If the seller has an issue with you taking the car to get checked out, walk away. I would have the car looked over by someone you trust.
24k miles is barely broken in Enjoy if you get it

Agreed...the MINI can be a very tempermental car. I would have it checked out by a good BMW/MINI/other Euro tech, just to be safe.

What trim are you referring to? The "beltline" trim (everything directly under the windows, all the way around the car) is commonly blacked out via a vinyl tape, and that can possibly wear through. Mine shows little glints of the chrome that was underneath in a few areas where the tape did not fully cover.
