I had just finished washing the MINI tonight when this guy stops at my driveway and starts asking questions about my MINI. He wanted to know if I had added any performance mods and I said no not yet.

Then he asks how many miles and I told him 2400 . Then he asks what options I had and I said it's loaded except for the nav and cold package.

Then out of the blue he says....want to sell it? Sell it? I just got it about two months ago, heck it's not even broke in yet. He say's my Chili Red/White MCS is just how he would have ordered his.

I told him to go order one, and he says he didn't want to wait for the car. I told him that the MINI is just not any car, and he would just have to get in line like most other people who want a MINI just the way they want it.

He stated he had been to all the local dealers and knew about the list.

At any rate, I told him the MINI was not for sale. (He never did make an offer, not that I would have taken it)

He gets back in his car and before he drives off says....Sure would like to have that MINI, and I said,...hey, I know just how you feel.

Sorry, but I would have at least asked what he was offering... just to see how badly he wanted it.

Did you get the make, model, and license plate of the car he WAS driving? I sure hope nothing happens to your MINI. Great compliment, but that would just make me nervous!

BTW, I would have asked him how much he was willing to pay. If he's fool enough to pay 2x the cost of the car, I would have sold it and bought another off the lot somewhere, then ordered the car I wanted. When the ordered car came in, I would have sold the one off the lot.

You could also have told him to call around in the midwest; I think there are dealers that don't have much of a wait anymore.

D.J.,

I would have sold it at $6000 over MSRP. Just enough for a JCW kit on him.
I know you don't want to wait to replace it and it would be unthinkable to not have a MINI
but a free JCW kit installed? Heck I would have taken $3000 over MSRP and split the difference for the upgrade.
Maybe he was enticed by your Hawaii License plates!!

Not to worry, the MINI sleeps in the garage at night. I did go out a little later to see if I could spot his car in our area but he must have been just going by and decided to stop. ( I was going to tell him to get on the MCO site and just kinda lurk around and search for his car.)

You know, I have owned alot of cars in the last 35 years or so, but I have never had a car as unique as the MINI. Everyday is a new adventure with this car. People are always asking questions, wanting to know who makes it? what does it cost? etc...

I was filling the fuel tank the other day and a nice lady walks up to me and says "Your car is so cute, it makes you want to give it a great big hug.

Hi minihune, yeah, your probably right. I should have shot him a price and see if he would have went for it.

But then again, this MINI is one sweet car. I have no complaints wiith this unit, and I figure if I was to sell it , the next one I get, might not be as good.

I think I will just hang on to it!!!

Yes, as you have found, the MINI is a people magnet.
It's incredible. If you keep it clean it will look like new for a very long time.
You don't need to do any mods. It works fine and looks unique in stock form.
You have the MCS with the three packages so there is quite a bit there. For about $25,000 it is quite a bit of car.

So now that someone has asked if you would sell it, now you need to know it will happen again so be prepared on what to say. $28,500 buys it! Repeat after me.
