Opening Sunroof/Windows with Key Fob

Does Anyone happen to know how one can OPEN the sunroof with the key fob?

I know I can roll down the windows and vent the sunroof but it won't allow me to actually open it. Is this a software update I'm missing?

I have an October '07 build date MC. Please help!

I don't think you can open it all the way. I have a june 08 and all I can do is tilt the window also.

My EU MCS opens all the way with the key fob. Just hold the button and away it goes.

I think my sunroof opens all the way, as well. I'd call the dealer and see if there is an update, because I think all the '09s open all the way with the sunroof.

I have yet to see a 2nd gen MINI sunroof open all the way with the keyfob, it will only tilt after the windows roll down.

I know there was a big issue with the sunroofs and even the convertible tops opening inadvertently by having the keyfob pressed down while in a purse or pocket and during rain storms the cars would get flooded. Granted there would be flooding with the windows rolled down but it would be alot worse with a fully open sunroof.

Like your EU Start/Stop feature, full open sunroof with key fob may be another feature not available West of the Atlantic.

I had to have the dealer disable this feature on my 2005 S because once at airport parking I placed my keyfob in my carry on, but it got pressed against my leg as I was manuevering all me luggage on the shuttle. unbeknownst to me, when I returned my windows were halfway down and the moonroof was halfway open fortunately it was secured covered parking so no harm done, other than a lot of dust (car was open for 5 days.)

So I think the N AM 2nd gen cars were programmed to NOT have so much window and MR open up for this feature. I tried it on my 09 and the MR cracked open front and rear, but that's it.

On my former '08 MCSa and my replacement '09 MCSa the windows go fully down and the sunroof only tilts open when holding down the unlock button on the key fob.

The manual talks about some option - comfort access or some such name?? -
which opens extra stuff from the key fob. Not even an option here in Oz so I can't tell you what it does. But maybe that's why some people have different experiences???

As far as I know, that option is for getting in the car and starting it without ever pulling your key fob from your pocket.

Yep. At least on my 9/07 build R56 (no convenience package). Press and hold unlock on the FOB and the two door windows go down and the sunroof glass tilts. If you let go of the button half-way down the process stops.

I know about the side windows going down and the sunroof tilting. I think the OP was asking about the sunroof opening all the way, sliding back.

Hey - mine does that too!! I never knew that!

Unfortunately, holding the lock button doesn't close them all. I have to use the key in the lock to reverse the process.
