Halo Headlights from Moss Mini

http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=67312
Does anybody know if that $329 price is for a pair? Or just one headlight?

Also what is the LED version of this underneath the angel eye parking light?
http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=52440
I also assume those prices are for a pair?

The site is very confusing.

Personally... I would get them off of ebay. They are half the price and they are the same headlights. I got mine off of ebay and they work pretty well! they get a lot of compliments as well. The halos hooked up to my parking lights. Projector headlights form ebay

I'm with BadMINI S. I got mine off of EBAY. Looking at the ones from Moss and then at the ones off EBAY, they are the same ones. I got mine for half of what MOSS wants.

I have a night time shot, but it's not the best. Bad MINI S' shows off what they look like at night very well.

Interesting I had these on another car where I had to open up the unit and glue on the halo ring ( very mickey mouse IMO) but obviously these are a whole unit.

Q1. Do you swap your headlight washer unit?
Q2. It appears on ebay and in BadMINI S's theres an additional halo piece under the ring that curls away or is that just a reflection as I don't see it in fatherdeth's pic?
Q3. How the quality and fit of the ebay unit? good chrome? As that's pretty cheap for a replacement headlight assemby!

$200 for 2 brand new headlight housings? That is dirt cheap!

01-770 $76.46 Angel Eyes Running Lamps

101-771 $25.60 Angel Eyes Replacement LED
What is the difference between the above two parts?

I got another question. Seeing as we drive on the "wrong" side of the road where I live. Won't the lenses be angled the wrong way round and blind oncoming drivers?

Answers to your questions:
1. There is no washer in the halo-projection lights... it just looks like it. (added effect).I didn't have washer before I installed the Lights so it wasn't a big deal.
2 I'm not sure what you mean by an additional halo piece.... but you probably just see a reflection. There is a single halo, your low beam and a high beam. Aside from the halo, there is an extra spot where a light is where as in the fatory Mini lights they are empty.
3 The fit is okay... there is a gap that is not very noticeable at the bottom of the headlight but otherwise they fit well Name: DSCN3698-1-1-1.jpg

Size: 101.3 KB The headlight aren't exactly level, so sometimes that bugs me. I must say that for the price, I think it is a very good product. The chrome is holding up but its plastic.

If you need any "clearing up" let me know

I see what you mean in his picture. It's just a reflection. As far as fitment is concerned, they fit very well for an aftermarket product from ePay. Mine has the slight gap at the bottom as well. Nothing too noticable. What I like is how the bolts line right up and the headlight fits right into the bonnet. Of course, even if you get the black housing ones like me, you still have to paint the surrounds black. I never wired up the third set of lights in mine. I didn't feel the need to have more front turn signals, and if you hook them up to the driving lights, then I'm guessing they'd drown out the halos.

My question is: does it work with the auto-level feature?

No, not that I'm aware of. I messed around with trying to level them. I have never gotten a high beam retaliation with mine yet. They are a pain to try and level though.

sounds like the ebay GTI halos I bought for my jetta . Granted you get what you pay for ($169+ shipping). Seemed like a good idea at the time( kinda like takin a popper then cutting your face off and feeding the dog like Mason Verger....Hannibal ring a bell??...lol) No way to level at all, 2 of 4 halos stopped working after a month... u get the picture.... I guess I'll just wait till I can get a OEM set of projectors

Well, technically they are still standard halogens. The housing is just a projector style. The difference is the stock lights take a H7 bulb, and these aftermarket lights take a H1 bulb. They are made to look like an expensive xenon style light, but it takes regular old halogen bulbs.

I have these lights and they are in the "bling" category rather than the performance one. They are not as good as stock lights, but they do OK. I drive home in the dark sometimes and I drove through TX at night with them (and survived!) They are difficult to mount nicely (I modified the holes in the bonnet to get a slightly better fit at the bottom), they won't level (they adjust up and down fine, but nothing side to side). I got better H1 lamps (Ozram) than the cheapO Chinese ones they came with. They are OK, especially for the price, but no concours winners...

Right, but what I meant was, it sounds like the people here who have done the swap previously had projectors. What I'm curious about is whether or not anyone has done the swap with stock halogens, and if so, if the wiring matched up or needed some modification, etc.

Are any of the projector headlights available without the Halo (like the stock '05 up HID projectors)? I haven't been able to find them. Has anyone used an aftermarket HID kit with these lights?

The Halo parking lights use 2 LEDs per light for the halo ring and a standard bulb (silver or not) for the turn signal. The LED replacement part you are asking about is just that, a replace LED for the halos. Now weather that's for one or all 4 I'm not sure. Seems like highway robbery for one, but then again we are talking about Moss.

I think I will rather wait until something strikes my current light housing. I'll get the OEM xenon's instead.

Yeah, I had the crappy stock halogens. The wiring for the low and highbeam bulbs is plug and play. All you have to do is run wiring from the halos down to the parking lights in the bumper if you want them to come on with the parking lights. As I said before, there are two extra bulbs in these lights, but I never hooked mine up. with that said, the light output is decent. Personally, I think it's a little better than the stock headlights, but not by much. Might I also suggest that when wiring up the halos, you use a quick disconnect in the wiring. this will make it much easier to remove the headlight housing without having to cut the wiring if you ever needed to do so.

The price for the headlights on MOSS are for both. These lights MOSS sell are the same ones found on ePay. the only benefit to buying them through MOSS, is you don't have to worry about whether you're going to receive them or not, and it would probably be easier to return them to MOSS. Some of these ePay vendors have horrible customer service.

I just phoned the dealer, the want to charge me $3500 to put in factory xenon housings. This includes "labour".

I guess this puts me back onto this route. As stated previously - the light pattern for these lights aren't going to blind my oncoming traffic as their have been adjusted I presume for LHD cars? We're RHD on this corner on the world.

Also do the main beams, use H7 bulbs like OEM or different ones?

The kit alone is like $2000.

It requires a complete harness swap as well, quite an involved job for headlights.

No, the high AND the low beam bulbs are H1. And to be honest with you, I'm not sure if these lights were designed primarily for RHD or LHD cars.

Jeez, could I not just buy the light housings. Install myself and get an aftermarket H7 HID kit? Instead of doing it the proper "OEM" route?

The OEM housings use an HID bulb, so you can't put a regular H7 in its place.

You would be better off getting a set of facelift halogen lights and putting the H7 HID kit into those, if you really wanted the HIDs.
