Well we got our first dump of snow today, I took this pic early this morning but we did get another few more inches. The Nokian's worked really well, up hills , down hills no probs. Highly recommended and very quiet in the dry!

 

Do you know anywhere we can get those in the states? I haven't been able to find them. I heard about Hakkapeliitta's years ago and how good they were (better than Blizzaks).

A local tire shop sells them here, Walker Tire. The point is, check every tire shop in your city.

 

I really wish Tire Rack would sell these tires. I would have gotten those instead of the Hakka-wannabe Pirelli Winter Carvings that I'm running now.

Not that the Pirellis are bad or anything, it's just that the Hakkas are legendary here in Alaska. I was just THAT impressed with the last set I had on a car. Unfortunately, the only place here that sells them is in Anchorage - and they want waaaaaaaaaay too much to ship them to me.

I agree with the PP. I live in Maine, I just bought a set of Nokian Hakka 5s at my local tire store. Beat any price on the internet and free install/removal & rotation for life. And great to give a local business the money in these tough times !

I had Blizzaks before, and while they were great traction wise the first 2 winters, they were horrible last winter. I've heard the Hakkas wear much better and last longer...we shall see.

 

I was trying to find Hakkas that fit the regular Clubman. What size would that be? Also, I'm guessing they won't fit the OEM 15 inch wheels?

I bought Hakka 2's in 185/65/15. They sure will fit a regular Clubman. Do a google search & you'll find a place that sells them.

 

The all seasons on my 09 Clubman are 195/60-15's though and so would not fit those(or am I wrong?) So either way I would need to get new wheels for the Hakkas. Correct me if I'm wrong though(I'm hoping I am)

 

Nokian makes a crap ton of sizes.

195/60/15 roughly equals 185/65/15 in terms of diameter and revs per mile. I'd guess the stock clubman rims are 5.5" or 6" wide by 15", so you can fit either tire on those.

Jack Williams Tire in Harrisburg, PA sells Nokians. They report customers coming up from Maryland to buy Hakkepelitas.

Lat year I bought a set of Hakka's for my son, whose 91 Mercedes 190 was slipping and sliding around the hills of Ithica, NY (he goes to Cornell). The Michelin snow tires on his car just were not providing sufficient grip.

The Hakkepelitas transformed his car's performance in snow. No further issues with grip, slipping or sliding. Solid acceleration and braking. No problems driving uphill or down.

I don't know of a better snow tire on the market than Nokians.

I have 225/45/17 Nokian WR's on my car, I want to give them a little test tomorrow in the snow that coming to the Northeast (yes, I realize that is stupid wide).

 

Nokian has a US web site. I must confess I haven't looked for a while. They have a dealer locator so you can find a dealer near you. Great news for when I'm ready to buy them.

This is probably "the best" commercial tire for pure snow you can buy now.
Too bad you couldn't go narrow to get the full benefit.

Yes they are RSI's, thinner would be better, but I bought them with only 500 miles last summer from a NAM member for a summer price I couldn't refuse and I really wanted to try these tires.

After a few more days use I'm really sold now, they are average compared to other premium winters on the dry and wet, as mentioned they are very quiet, but in the snow they are incredible! My back streets never get plowed and these things haven't let me down yet with more snow than we had last year

 

I had Nokian WR's on my MINI. That's their all-season with severe winter designation. They still spun in white stuff do to FWD, but steering and braking was MUCH better than anything I've tried.

The same tires on an AWD Subaru are unstoppable. We had two identical Legacy GT wagons, one with Nokians, one with Falken FZ4's. In a light snow on a long downhill grade at 15mph, the Falken equipped car was sliding on braking whereas the Nokian car just stopped.

 

yeah, tell me about it. I really miss my WRX especially now in winter, not to mention that the gas is cheap again

Found a local tire store. Quoted 735 after taxes which includes installation. Darn that's steep. Hakka 5's. Gah hard to fight the urge to buy it.

Problem is, I'll have to buy summer tire/wheels if I purchase the snow tires. Was planning to put the cash into coilovers. >.<

 

Stg I reflash = 340hp. Sport # and a heavy right foot have yielded 16.9mpg.

Good thing my commute is 15 miles a day
