sanity29-
I think you are asking:
For the MCS, what easy (requires about an hour's work or less-can be done by owner) bolt on performance modification upgrade options are possible? Generally since these are quick and easy they tend not to void warranty in a big way. Many can be removed and the stock part returned to the car. Any upgrade that requires a core return would not be a bolt-on upgrade.

So in general terms here goes (there are many many options out there)
Intake- Easiest:drop in filters; Cold air intakes-many many types from basic (pilo intake) to Alta with hose.
Ignition upgrades- MSD coil, performance wires, colder setting spark plugs, Plasma Booster, Pilo ignition upgrade
Pulley/Ecu- Nope-not really drop in. Major upgrade
Rebored throttlebody-Nope- requires core exhange
Exhaust- exhaust header, cat back exhaust systems (many to choose from-UUC, Alta, Magnaflow, Borla, Quicksilver, etc)
Suspension- Easiest is the rear swaybar. Springs more involved. Control arms/links-more labor. Tower strut brace is easy (not really that helpful due to stiff MINI chassis)
Brakes- Better brake pads are easy. Rotor swap a bit more.
Wheels- lighter rims with performance tires easy to change to.
Short shifter- many options

Hope that gets you started for now.

minihune, thanx for the info. as for what you have mentioned is about what i'm looking for. as i really want to know what can all be done without head work, cam, and displacement changes. anyhting that doesn't require going into the internals. as for core charges and easy removal for warranty reasons i'm not worried about at all. as everything you have isted above, i can do myself. that isn't the hard part. i've done all that stuff to my other cars before, so i'm not worried there. i have no problems getting my hands dirt, as i am handy with a wrench. just wanted to know what is available to us that doesn't require going into the internals of our motors? thanx for the info though, it does help a lot. gives me a great idea of someof the things out there right now. any others with what i said above. again, i'm not too worried about warranty issues at all, so they don't have ot be easy removal mods or anything along those lines. just bolt-ons.
thanx
ja
