runflats off finally

I know this is one we really beat to death here

I finally got my runflats off yesterday.

For those of you that still have yours, just count
down the days until they are gone.

Quieter. Smoother. Handles better.

I'd say if you were super rich the day you get your
car, change the tires, and get what you can
for the RFs on craigslist.

A whole new car.....

Those RFs go for some good coin on eBay and CL - you don't have to be rich!

But some of us actually like our runflats. I have had not runflats on my 08 clubbie and IMHO the car does not handle any better nor does it ride any better nor is it any quieter.

I found better handling, but didn't experience a better or quieter ride.
YMMV.

Not many miles yet.

I think my mpg has gone down.

I expected it to go up as in theory the
rotational mass moment thing is much more
on a runflat.

I didn't realize 175s fit.
I had 195s.
I'd be tempted for the thinner tire for better mpg but oh well,
i'm still over 30 city in auto, but I had been about 36 solid
for my commute.

.
Which tire did you end up getting?

In the summer I used Dunlop Direzza Star Spec 215/45/17 and my mileage also dropped about 5 percent on a similar circuit. But the ride and handling is much better.

I got the bridgestone potenza G019.
It seemed like a good all year round tire.

I'm still getting a solid 32 on the commute.
But I was getting 35 before. Up to 36.

I have the K+N filter which really helps.

per year it's not that much money.
But it bugs the stink out of me to not
be operating as efficiently as possible.

I just swapped my Conti 205/40/17 runflats for Nokian WRG2 215/45/17 for the winter and am very impressed. I might have to sell my runflats and buy something new for the summer when that rolls around...

I went from GY RSA RF's to the GSD3 F1s and I think the RSA's were better. Turn in was much better along with overall handling.

The F1s are way smoother and substantially quieter but feel very "rubbery". The go-kart feel is more car like now.

Since I'm not on the track I can't say if one is faster than the other but one of the guys in DCMM swapped his RFs to the F1s and his times slowed

What I can say is $150 beats $300 for someone who isn't a racer.
