According to RealOEM.com the Fire Extinguisher can be mounted in either the glovebox or trunk and if accurate the part is still available...

Thanks guys, please do let me know. As for the links, it was stumbling across the DIY on motoringphile that alerted me to its existence. It seems cool, different, and nice and compact.

This MINI extinguisher is fine if you desire it for its unique qualities, but for function, a larger capacity extinguisher will serve you better when needed. Even a 2.5 lb extinguisher won’t last very long (you should hope to have accurate aim and catch the beginnings of an electrical fire). As for the mounting location, the diminutive MINI extinguisher won’t weigh much, but it will place stress on “plastic” mount points. The rear of the glove box is secured with one small screw, which self taps into a plastic thin walled fresh air chamber box. The outer attachment points are plastic also and I would presume not designed to support much of a load. Mileage weakened attachments could allow the heavy object to eject if rear-ended.

Please don’t misunderstand my cautions about this product, I highly recommend an inboard fire extinguisher for 1st generation MINIs, and a mount location within arms reach. However, I suggest choosing a higher capacity extinguisher, and more secure mounting method for the bracket than the glove box shell.

Very good info. Thanks. Two things came into play here.
1) I liked the look and uniqueness of the OEM part. Despite its side and whatnot it seemed to be an interesting addition. I wasn't honestly looking for funtion, mayber I should be.
2) I don't know what in the world this will cost. I don't want to spend a lot but if it is expensive you can bet I would go for the better product. I have used a cheap extinguisher in the past and it worked fine, but if I'm looking at over say, $80 for this I'll go ahead and get the Halon high quality ones. Right now I'm just trying to gather info.

That said, excellent points made and info presented. Definately food for thought.

If you type "fire extinguisher" in the search field and choose "New MINI" from the drop down menu, you will find the price to be about $75.

Yes the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) BMW. But that site didn't have an illustration. But I appreciate the input, the sites a good resource.

I think you can only get them in Europe. At least that's what I read on two sites.

You can try these though
Fire Extinguisher # 7260 0000 335
Bracket # 7260 1945 556
