HELP ME DECIDE MY BRAKE CALIBER COLOR!!

Ok, need some help.

I am going to paint my calibers with duplicolor paint, but am not sure what color to do. I am torn between red and yellow. What do you guys think would look better on my MINI? I like the red because red I have always loved the look of red calibers, plus it would match (hopefully) with my Red paint. But I also like yellow because it would be a sweet accent color, and would stand out from red calibers!!

Thanks in advance!!

Heres some pix:

You already have three colors going on with your MINI (gorgeous, too).... red, white, and black. Me... I would not introduce a fourth color into the scheme.

And the red from G2 matches Chili Red pretty well. Although colors don't come through perfectly in photos, here's one for you. And in person, it's a very close match.

Here's one in the dark shade of my garage just to give you another look in different lighting:

Is that the same as a caliper?

What caliber are those brakes? 11.25? Wouldn't want to get hit by one of those.

Red. Yellow looks cool but I can't imagine trying to keep them looking clean on a daily driver....

Thanks for your help guys! And thanks for all the complements. I will go with red for the calipers. So, is Duplicolor the best? Or should I go with somethiing else? I want it to match like CR&PW&&JB's does. What is G2? Thanks again for the complements and the help!!

I just painted mine red a month or so back. The calipers seem to stay cleaner with the paint. The brake dust doesn't stick to the smoother surface as much.

With that color scheme, best to do like everyone else and paint your brake caterpillars red.

That makes sense, as I noticed this back when my father had a Porsche 911 Turbo. It had factory red brake calipers, and they were always very clean, no matter how long we waited to wash the car. Hmm....

Anyway, I went ahead and painted my front calipers with my friend's help. I used Duplicolor as the local pep-boys had it in stock (I would have preffered G2, but this was more convenient). I was going to do the rears as well, but I ran into trouble when we noticed a stripped lug AND hub on the driver side front wheel. We realized that the impact guns that Discount Tire used to install my rims probably did it. So, I had to keep Coop locked at my friends house overnight, and have him towed to Discount Tire the following day. After like 2 hours, I was able to take Coop home, after rear lined the hub.

Heres some pics. I really am happy with how it looks, I just wish the whole lug incident hadnt happened. Thanks for everyone's help in this!!

Sorry for the bad pics, my iPhone was the only thing handy.

Nice !! Painted calipers really make any car look more sporty. Well... almost any car. But yours, DEFINITELY.

Worth the troubles you had, I'd say.

you have black wheels, white catapults would look nice also. (to match the white on your roof and stripes).

So are you able to paint (brush?) the calipers on the car or did you have to remove them? when I painted mine in my maxima a few years ago I took everything off and sprayed it with hi-temp paint, the highest temp the duplicolor makes for engine block paint, 1500 degrees or something. I had to bleed the lines and everything when I put it back together and I’d rather avoid that this time. And the hi-temp paint eventually cracked and looked rather ugly.

lookin good i took my wheels off last night and rotated them and was going to paint the calipers w the same kit, but I had started too late in the day and decided to do it another time...maybe when i upgrade pads, as I would have had a LOT to clean before i could even start painting

I am told that with the G2 kit you just use a brush and apply the paint, no spray and no removal of the calipers. (I just ordered the G2 set in red color a few days ago). -I too want to avoid taking off my calipers, etc... I've done it in the past, yet kind of a pain in the ***.

I just painted them while on the MINI. I didnt want to make it too hard of a job as they were only being painted with $16 Duplicolor paint.

Btw, I finished the rears last night. Bad pics, as it was late and COLD.

I've seen light bulbs and hoses changed in the auto parts store lot but never a caliper paint job!

Did you bothered to take the pads off first or did you paint everything as it? Was there lots of making off involved?
