The most important thing was definetly getting the grease/dirt/grime/dust off the caliper. Fun mod for the most part! Discount Tire thought so too. They were pretty amazed that we went and painted them right then and there in the lot.
so the difference between duplicolor and G2 is that duplicolor is paint and G2 is epoxy, hence the price difference? i wonder how it holds up long term. cracking painted calipers looks like crap.
im sure the G2 is more a paint it on and forget it thing. Ive had duplicolor last about 2 years, basically because winter messes them up bad. its all about the care you put into them...cleaning regularly mainly. Usually just have to recoat after that time period... no biggie. I assume the epoxy to be a little more durable
It is a paint...but it's an epoxy based paint so you add a reactor to it.

I now have red JCW brakes with my red JCW Mini which you've all seen before, but as mentioned earlier yellow looks great with yellow cars ( my previous 02 MCS):
I used "high performance" duplicolor brake caliper paint set, its a brush on, but having done a spray on, this is much cleaner choice, as you dont need to mask off the whole wheel well etc and worry about the pads etc.
Its a ceramic based paint, so when it dried its hard and smooth like ceramic and shiny red too! looks great: Here they are dirty with my winter rims on: (17$) <<for the set w/ brake cleaner etc, not the rims =p Rims were used $200 for ASA rims with DSST dunlop wintersport m3s (got them before the car, but not getting runflats anymore after these!), they were all silver and i painted all but the lips of those as well, duplicolor gunmetal paint, spraycans ftw =p

Great looking car dude!
So its been a while since I painted the calipers, and they have been holding up really well! With the kind of heat we are getting out here it will be interesting to see how they hold up!

So did you wait the 24 hours you are supposed to after doing this job? I am getting ready to do this and Wondered if I need to wait that long.
Also is there any reason to take the calipers apart first if I am going to be doing new pads very shortly?

Just got the duplicolor brake caliper kit, planning on doing it this weekend. Do you have to wait 24hrs before driving it? How many layers did you guys put on? I'm thinking maybe 3? Since I only have one jack, I'll just do one side at a time.
