Autocross Event December 6th at Michelin Test Facility
Autocross Event December 6th at Michelin Test Facility
Thought you all might be interested. SCR had an autocross event at the Michelin Test Facility in Laurens, SC back in October and it was a blast. The site is very very large and is completely flat with no light poles or other obstruction to worry about. This was some of the most fun I had in the Mini. If you are interested, all the details are below.
Best wishes,
Andy

Sounds great but I have Christmas Party that date and seems like I have been invited to one every other day in December. That is a great facility been there but never driven on it. I would like to do it one time. I have been on VIR and Carolina Motorsports park but not racing just hammering down on my own.
Arrgh! They wifey has a gallery opening that day. Thanks for the info and the invite Andy. I'll share it with some other enthusiasts.
Chris, you need to go rep' for the club as both our likely best auto-xr and Prez! ;-)

At the last event, I met one of the mechanics from Mini of Charleston. He has a non-S that he has modified and really has fun with it. I think he runs in one of the street modified classes.
Course Map!
At the last event, they used this course layout which they will use again this Saturday. This is a very exciting and fast course. After each of my runs, the adrenalin (sp?) and my heart were pumping 100 miles a minute. Normally at these events, I never get out of second gear and on my 1st run, I hit the rev limiter. On my subsequent runs, on the top section of this map, down to the big sweeper (right side of this picture), I got it to third gear at close to 80 mph!
The course is 400 feet wide by 1400 feet long.
What a blast!

Which car and class where you in? Where you driving the 06 MCS shown on your footer?
There were a number of other mini's there in October.

That was a great weekend event! Wish I could go to the one this weekend but have holiday stuff to do. Have fun!
I guess you didn't get any pictures of the 2nd run group? I couldn't find a BRG MINI in the pics.

I don't remember his name but I did meet the guy with the 2009 JCW that was the same color as my S (Lightning Blue). That was one beautiful car! I was very jealous that I didn't go for the extra money on the JCW!
Hope you get your MINI back soon. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.
I'll see everyone that is going there. I won't be running my MINI. I'll have my CSP Miata there running in Pro class. If you need anything at the event, please let me know as I am operating steward for the day.
Of course you are!!! I was putting you in the MINI class of friends. The other guys were driving, well, uh a solstice. Ha ha!
Anyway, yes, I'm looking forward to re-learning how to drive my car. Yes, re-learn. I feel kinda odd about it. I fell too quickly back into the too familiar S10. I guess 210k mi will do that. only 52k with my MINI.
I do have some good news though, it did crank up the other night. Now gotta run water lines......
EDIT: Sorry to go off topic. I hope everyone had a great day at the track. I was working and then went to eat for my b-day.
