Possible Track Day - Sunday Nov. 23

OK, for those who want to get some controlled track time. I heard the other day that on Nov. 23rd, Mike Pettiford Go 4 It Racing and Instruction will be offering an open track day.

Place: Colorado State Patrol Track in Golden, Colorado.

Cost: $150 all day, open track time. Mike will be offering his services to improve your driving for a fee, but it is not a formal part of the day.

Updated Details:

Start time 8:30 for late registrations and suggested arrival time all drivers, Drivers meeting promptly at 9AM. Open laps alternating with instructed laps.

Track time is 9AM to 4PM, even in the rain, but it looks like Sunday is expected to be in 50s and sunny.

Instruction time is $400 for 1/2 day and $700 for a full day, Mike P will have at least one student driving on Sunday for his/her 3rd day of instruction and will be getting a competition license.

Call Mike (GO4IT) at 303-666-4113 to preregister with Mike, tell him your car, needs if any and driving experiences.

You will need a helmet full or 3/4 face. Driving gloves if you wish to use them, I suggest you wear a long sleeve cotton shirt and long pants, good shoes with grip on the soles, leather upper is good.

Car needs to be safe, very good tires, proper tire pressure, all loose items removed from car when on track. Proper mounts for in-car cameras, etc.

Car should not have any mechanical issues, it can be a dedicated track car or street car.

You will be signing the traditional waiver, etc.

Info on the track via CSP website: http://csp.state.co.us/drivertraining.cfm.html

Address for facility: 15055 S. Golden Road, Golden, CO 80401 Link to the google map. track is at S. Golden Road and the end of Quaker

This link is pretty general go to a Satellite view to get a general sense of direction.

End Update:

So you can come out with your MINI or other super car and do some laps with other like minded folks.

This will be controlled track time, no racing, not any type of timing, etc. I am not sure how Mike sets up the CSP track for his events.

I will try to talk with Mike by mid week to get particulars, times, car prep, etc.

I do understand this is weather permitting, so if it is snowing I suspect it will not be a go.

I am giving it some strong thought and I think Umberto with his JCW might come out and do a lap or few.

Don

It's the CSP Track, CSP drive in the snow. Def worth some thought, come up with times and I'll at least be willing to fill in with photographs if I'm not behind the wheel for the event.

Edit: Chuck --- Thanks for the mass email from MINI5280.

So, I am going to sign up for some track time.

I plan on being out in Golden at 8:30, I will have my basic tools, portable air-tank, folding chair and my floppy hat.

Gear will be helmet, old racing gloves and long sleeve cotton pullover shirt, long pants and driving shoes.

So far 3 people have expressed interest.

Call this the attendee list: I will update if you send me a pm or email.

Mostly a bump.

Intercoolist suggested you bring a plastic tub with cover to put all your stuff.

His experience was they inspect everything down to nothing in the glove box, etc. So a plastic tub with cover is a good idea.

Hope I see a few folks out on Sunday, if not I will take pictures when I'm not on track.

Don asked me to make the following notice from my personal experience at this track in October.

Take food/water, coat/hat, personal needs & chairs. The pit area is inside the track loop, there is a port-a-potty, but no way to leave w/out planned breaks to allow for exiting.

If you race:

Helmets must not be more than 10 years old & must be "Snell" approved. (DOT approval only wont be allowed.)

Take a "rubber-maid" (or other) large tub w/ lid to store your stuff in. Everything loose in the car must come out, floor mats, glovebox contents, etc.

Have fun!

Mike

Looks like we will have cool day for running. I will bring an extra helmet for passengers, if rules allow.

If your going to run be there at 8:30 for reg. and tech. paperwork. Drivers meeting is at 9AM sharp.

Track laps 9am - 4pm.

$150.00 for 7 hrs of open track, not a bad deal to test your car control skills and consistency.
