Took 1st Place at Space Coast Car show...pictures

We attended our first Mini show...we go to many shows with our other cars, so this was special for us...we took 1st place...great day. There were other cars there as well but the Mini's were our focus. Small show but a good one. Met Ronnie from NAM today, great guy...nice talking with you.

Ronnie's car took 2nd place...congrats...

More pictures to follow later...gotta get some work done..

Congratulations! As I said before, your car is undeniably gorgeous. Obviously, I am not the only one who loves the silver wheels and their striking contrast with the car's other colors. You might want to re-think the plan to paint them black. I say leave them silver and keep this stunning car as is!

I'm a big fan of matte black. I would paint the wheels body color. That would be sweet though.

I still say you ruined that car!

Okay, I might have to stop saying that now

Congrats, well deserved. Nice looking classics down there too.

another show is in April

They are going to try to get another show together in April so try to keep it in mind. The show was really nice. They even fed everybody at no charge, Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, snow cones ,pop corn, coffee and assorted cold drinks. A bouncy tent kept the children busy and the weather was great. I not only won 2nd place but won free ice cream in Cocoa beach. I gave that away but I'm keeping my trophy. It wae a nice event.

Congrats Red Bull. I gotta know what you did to your side skirts (if that's what you call them) around the wheel wells, if you don't mind my asking. Are they painted? They look fantastic!

No disrespect dude but gotta throw a BS flag here...

No dis to your dude....you've a nice car and display the trophy with pride but I must provide a reality check....

I attended this show too - it was widely discussed on another board - and altho a dissenter I also paid my $ to enter and hung a 'do not judge' sign on the car (different class from you, so no diff dude).... I paid to show my concerns were not 'cuz of the church that was to potentially collect any profit.

I DO however have a problem with a person waking up one morning an advertizing a show as "the MINI Nationals" with no more backing than the trophys someone buys for what is actually an open car show.

I guess the locals spoke loudly along that line as there were 4 MINI and 4 Mini (plus 2 Mini owned by the show's primary organizer) and you can count my car as in-valid. [there are many more MiNI in the area] I participate in a LOT of car shows. I dislike some one trying to identify a "church" car show as having some regional significance for MiNiDom....

Why do I mention this at all, here? I'd be very unhappy if I'd driven a good distance to attend a "national" sanctioned show, to discover it was anything BUT. Space Coast MINI Nationals or small local church fund raiser, is there a difference? I think so.

To those who ask, why didn't I address this with the show guy.... I did, for weeks b4.... They never "go it" as far as I concered, and I was not alone.. I'd not comment on this show except to manage expectations of anyone reading this thread planning to come next time. Come if you want to attend a small church show (4 MINI).....which SOME DAY might achieve a stature of being called MINI Nationals for more than my back yard. B4 someone references this post as the MINI Nationals for any venue, realize there were 10 Mini/MINI total .....

Sorry if I offend .....

HERE IS THE REAL REALITY CHECK.....DUDE

YOU ARE WAY OFF BASE...First off I participate and win in national shows. I have driven over 1,000 miles to attend car shows and fly across the country to attend as well...WHY DO STATE THIS FACT????? So you understand that this is not our first outing for me.

I am not sure I understand everything you wrote so please correct me if I
did not decipher your post correctly...it was a little difficult to get thru.

Stating facts here...........

This was a small show at a Church and not a National Car Show...the Pastor of this church organized this show to raise money for a youth group...NO FOR PROFIT for his church.

They gave away the following for FREE.....
Hamburgers & Chips....NO LIMIT...!
Hot Dogs...NO LIMIT
Free Soda..they went out to get Diet Soda because someone asked for one..
Free Snow Cones....NO LIMIT
Free Popcorn...NO LIMIT
Free..for the kids...Blow up romper you RENT for parties...
Free DJ the church paid for

Nice trophies and they had some nice raffels for $1.00...

The Pastor of this church, Glen "who I did not know before this meet" is an avid Mini lover and said one of his dreams was to own a Mini one day. He also love Motorcycles and has an Indian he wants some help to restore...I offered my services to him.

I could care less about a trophy....I will send you mine if you like, PM me your address and I will have shipping send it to you free of charge, we have a shop full of them. We were not there for Trophies,we are not Trophy seekers....we save that for the big show like HIN, etc.

You pulled into the parking lot, you didn't have to be there....if you pre-paid you could have asked for your money back and I know they would have been happy to do so, they were very nice folks. Stop complaining...I am sick of people like you...

Well, you say sorry if I offended you.....you did and everyone who was at that show to help with a good cause. What have you done lately????? I am pretty sure not much.

I say to all locals who can attend this show..do it. It is for a great cause and entry was $15.00 with FREE FOOD and drinks...un heard of these days. There were about 35-40 cars and everyone had a good time except for the person who I am replying to here.

I took my son with me and had a nice relaxing afternoon and met some real nice people there. It was exactly what I expected it to be, a small town car show...it was great.

The title of the show was Mini Nationals.

What is the national sanctioning authority?

I don't 'dis' church shows, I attended one locally here that had nearly 300 cars. Free dogs and soda.....

Call it a "church show", I don't care.

Call it a Mini National show ... sorry I DO care.

Where was the show? I'm in Biloxi, have had my car for only a month, and have been dying to mingle with other MINI owners.

Now that is the attitude that brings real car people together...to bad were in Florida. If your looking for local shows I would suggest searching the boards and getting involved with a local Mini club, if you dont have one in your area try joining a non specific car club. You will get all the info about car shows in your area

BJ You have a very nice car

Hi BJ'
You need to lighten up and start enjoying things a little more. If you would have let them judge your Mini I think you would have had a trophy. I guess you were just to busy arguing with Bart to see how everybody there was enjoying the different cars and motorcycles as well as each others company. I sure had a great time.
The advertisments for this show stated it was a church fundraiser for their youth ministry. It also stated the show included Show cars & Bikes. Bart Drummond was invited to include the local Mini owners and his telephone # is clearly on the flyer if you had any questions.
They split the trophy's to include a bunch of different classes. BMW mini's were in a class and the older Mini's were in a class. and the hot rods and bikes had their class.
I really can't understand your problem other then you probably are like my ex-wife. I couldn't understand her and her family either. If I were you I just would not pre-register at anybody's shows.

RONNIE well said....funny thing is he said he didn't want his car judged...pretty easy to read he has issues with not winning. Told him I will send my trophy to him and if he accepts I will make a donation in his name to Glen at the Church.....

But for you BJ this is what I think of you trashing a good event..sounds like a sore loser..............

Duh, I just got it. "Space Coast"! Out Orlando way. We have Stennis Space Center and some other space related concerns on the Gulf Coast, so I guess I was hoping you might be with a FL panhandle group. Well, I'll use your suggestions and keep looking for local people. But if I ever take the kids to Disney World I'll be looking to see if you have any MINI goings on as well. Thanks!
