R56 Oil Filter Ratings and Recommendations
Oil Filter Ratings and Recommendations
There are a great many threads on which oil to use, but I can't find any on which brand filter to use. There aren't any ratings for free on the web except for one site that said Purolator PureOne and the top grade Mobil 1 filters were leading the pack, but data was spotty. NAPA and Wix are supposed to be the same and a visit to both web sites supports that (same part number with exception of an additional digit for one).

I used an OEM for the first oil change at 1680 miles on our new MCS. I was not able to find or source any aftermarket filters. Never heard of Mann and did not know Napa / Wix made them for Mini. Most likely I'll stay with the OEM...
HAVE BEEN USING NAPA FILTERS THE LAST 3 OIL CHANGES AT 6K CHANGES. THE SEEM VERY GOOD AND THE OIL LOOKS GOOD NOT TO DIRTY AT THAT TIME. COST ABOUT 7-8 DOLLARS AND ARE EASY TO GET WHEN YOU LIVE 350 MILES FROM DEALER IN UTAH.

Thanks, all, for the responses. Was hoping to find ringing technical endorsements for some brand easily obtainable at a local parts store. Have been getting OEM over the net.
Have always trusted NAPA in the past, but this is my baby we're talking about.

That is a good thought. I'll stick with the OEM filters until my warranty runs out.
I used to work for an oil filter manufacturer. Use of a non-OEM product, like an aftermarket filter, will NOT void the warranty.
If Wix/NAPA has the filter I would trust it.
Wix does make the NAPA Gold filters.
And no, I did not work for Wix or NAPA.
