I ordered Nittany some new bonnet stripes from Cooper Flags. The stripes that are coming are white, however, I'm now having second thoughts and thinking that frost stripes would be really cool instead. They'd be there, but more subtle.

Then again, I have a white roof and mirrors so the white stripes really match well with everything.

Has anybody put frost stripes on an IB/W MINI? Any pics?

This decision is difficult because once the stripes go on, the clear bra is going over them, so there will be no changing my mind afterward.

 Don't get me wrong - I like the white stripes, but they seem to be more common...

I saw an IB down at the Dragon Run last year with wide shadow stripes and it was the most gorgeous IB I've ever seen...

I think your white stripes will look great matching the white roof and mirrors. And you can always change them in a couple of years when it is time to replace the clearbra. . .

Regardless of which you choose (I say go for white), IMO you should put the stripes on OVER the clear bra, the reason being that stripes can wear out/fade rather quickly and if they're under the clear bra you won't be able to change them without also removing and therefore ruining the more expensive bra.

I think Nittany would look great with a clear bra. Just pick what ever you want.

i assume you're getting some different style of white or frost stripes? cause you got some white ones on already in your pics. personally, white. i plan on sticking on white center racing stripes on the bonnet only on my brg/w mcs when it comes in. then clear bra over. the frost is, i think, too subtle.

hey calvin77, have you seen pics of mini racing stripes deteriorating over time? what does cooper flags have to say about this - stripes over or under clear bra? i know this was talked about before, but did matt or any manufacturers give their input on this?

ok, my search revealed iluv_mini-matt to say "we install the stripes over the clear bra...to make it easier to change stripes". but again, do the stripes really deteriorate that easily over time?

In my humble, but dogged opinion, white stripes look fantastic on Minis with white tops. It creates a perfect balance. The white top is still distinctive, but incorporated into the color scheme. The frosted stripes, while very cool, do not accomplish this. I, however, am still without stripes... but I've thought about it, and with DS/DS I am likely to go with frosted.

Thanks for the opinions! I've decided to stick with white stripes. The frost is really, really cool (and I might kick myself when I see a car with it in person) but I think I just like the way the white stripes tie rignt in with the white roof and mirrors.

Yes, my car did have the standard white stripes already, but I wanted something a bit different so I'm going with Cooper Flag's Driver's Edge stripes. I already have the bonnet piece on and I'll be doing the boot in a bit.

I'll post pics later tonight.

It's not that I've seen stripes deteriorate quickly, just that they will probably need to be changed before the clear bra. I know people in Colorado with very worn-out stripes due to snow, rocks and general weather damage.
