Who has a MINI that does not rattle?
I just read the "rattle" thread and it has got me spooked. I am picking up my MCS next month and am scared that I am buying a rattely (sp?) car.
My '03 pure silver MCS was purchased in January. At 7,800 miles, no rattles (or any other problems). (:>

A little over 6000mi since March and no rattles that I can hear, but then my hearing's not what it once was.
Seriously though, I had a rattle from the boot latch early on, which was fixed by a dealer adjustment. I've got the stiff sport suspension, and I'm amazed at how thight everyting is. I sometimes hear a little soft thumping from the cover over the boot space, but that's about it.

By the way my son has a 2001 Honda Accord with rattles in both doors and one coming from the back seat area. The rattles started about the first 5000 miles or so. Oh well, so much for that so called build quality.

all cars have some problems, however i would say this honda you speak of is rare. i have 3 other hondas, 2 yrs old, 4 years old, and 14 years old 0 rattles

My Mr.Motor, with 7858 hard miles, lots of mods (engine and suspension) had zero rattles. I don't count a bit of bass-induced door-rattle from turning up the H/K very loud
My theory: The newer MINI's generally have a better build quality than the '02's and early '03's. I do know of plenty of '02's that are drum-tight, but it seems that the few bugs of some of the early builds have been all worked out.
soon, Motor-On!

I have one section of freeway that is very rough and I get a little rattle from the sunroof. However, it is getting better with age 10,000 miles. I don't drive this section very often so I even forgot about it until I saw you thread. Thanks alot.
Enjoy the car. You will smile every time you get out it.

*i may get flamed for this, but so be it*
all my cars, except my mini has been lowered. some considerably. most on springs/shocks..but last few full coilover systems
cars that are lowered, after a while (2 years or so in my case)..start to develop much more rattles than cars that are stock suspension
my hondas and other cars developed a bit of this, and i thought maybe because they were cheaper cars. my 50K lexus after being lowered started having a few rattles as well, thus i speak from my own personal experience.
i know its not mini related, but wanted to throw this into the mix to consider

03 MCS with 17" run-flats. Had the hatch rattle - fixed it myself. Rest of car is drum-tight.
01 Ford Crew Cab 4x4 F250 work truck - has rattled like crazy since day 1. Hell, it even rattles at idle.

Not likely.
Even my soft suspension 2001 Honda Odyssey has it's small share of rattles from the dash and glove box- depends on the roads you drive on and how quiet the rest of the ride is. Annoying but then if it does get me down, then I just drive my MINI.

As I upgraded suspension I noticed that my rattles have changed. At first there weren't any but after my springs were lowered and on rough roads I did find quite a bit of vibration and rattles. Once alignment was done my ride was very smooth. Runflats will reveal more sources of rattles- I changed tires to non runflats. Much smoother now.

Honestly I have tried to listen for rattles but between my loud exhaust and my loud audio system there is just not enough quiet time left for hearing rattles. Sound deadening material in the doors or panels cuts vibration and so does help cut audio sources for rattling. So these days my only rattles are due to the various items in my MINI that tend to rattle around when I motor about (mostly glass and bottles or metal hitting one another).
