Wash>clay>Amigo>Epic>BG> CAT!!!

Last Saturday was beautiful. After my morning bike ride and coffee with the guys I spend a leisurely day giving my 2005 CR cabrio a long overdue detail. I was soooo impressed with the look on Sunday after the Epic had cured and I used Banana Gloss for the first time. I couldn't believe the deep, wet, glossy surface. (No Pics yet. That surface is gone...)

As I was finishing dressing the tires I heard a funny "scratching" noise from the front of the car. My cat had leapt up and was hood-surfing on the bonnet, trying to maintain balance as she slid along with her sandy cat-paws!

I avoided the impulse to throw her across the yard, and got her off the bonnet. AHHHHHHH *@!%*!! Paw-sized etches marred the surface.

This is NOT another kill the cat thread. (Do a search in this forum if you haven't seen those). I get the impression that this is the same kind of insult one sees when a "friend" leans against your car to chat and tell you what a great car you have... I just haven't had to deal with it before.

A quick wash and buff with BG didn't do the trick... Will Epic take care of it, or is it back to Amigo?

I'm a detailing newbie myself, but it seems to me that you def need Amigo, if not Swirl. Epic is just a wax, not a polish. Same reason BG didn't do anything. Hopefully, the scratches are only on the clear coat and Amigo will save the day. Good luck!

I tend to have to agree with kechman, Epic has no polishing properties, Amigo does, plus it has fillers for swirls, minor scratches.

To fix cat scratches, you'll probably need at minimum Swirl and an orange pad on a PC. You might need Cut or a yellow pad as well. It depends how deep the scratches are.

As has been mentioned, Epic and BG are waxes which don't remove defects. They have some filling capabilities for light marring, but not for scratches.

Amigo is a combination of polish and wax, though it's more of a polish than a wax. The polymers make it more of a glaze, or something used to bring out the color/shine in a temporary manner. But once again, it's not going to polish out any scratches nor fill them.

If you don't have a PC, you might need to hire a pro detailer to look at it.
