I don't see why you wouldn't get your deposit back. just ask your dealer you want your deposit back, when i had to do it back in 2004 they didn't even ask why, just said thank you and mailed me the check.

Why would they give you the deposit back? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the deposit?

you can get your deposit back, but sounds to me since you've already agreed on a price, that you've signed more than just the build quote. Talk to your dealership and see what they will do for you, chances are no matter what you've signed, they will gladly sell the car to someone else... and probably for MSRP, so its a win for them.

most state laws allow for you to cancel the order prior to delivery and have your deposit returned. i know in ny and nj, consumer laws are pretty strict and are helpful to the consumer. hopefully you put the deposit on your credit card. if they give you a hard time, dispute it, as long as you dont take delivery the charge will be dropped.

If they do refuse to refund your deposit (unlikely, I think), remember that you still have a choice of taking delivery of the car or forfeiting the deposit.

If you take delivery, you will have to pay tax, title, license fee, and any dealer add ons, which are all above MSRP and which you'd be unlikely to recoup when selling. As to whether you'd be able to recover the full MSRP itself (less your $1,250 discount) depends on demand in your local area for that particular build.
