Any guides to remove/replace the plastic around the e-brake handle?

I want to extend the usb/aux cable for my ipod so I don’t have to put it awkwardly in a cup holder when in use. I’m thinking of cutting a small slit and stick the ipod connector end out the rubber underneath the e-brake handle. There is plenty of space under the handle for an ipod touch but how to I remove the center piece that runs between the two front seats so I can hide the extension cables?

thanks
