So Who's Holding Out For One Of The New Colors?

I think I'm down for the new "cosmos black." I have not seen it in person, but I think this is the closest we'll get to jet black - which I wish they would bring back (non-metallic).

What about you? Horizon Blue? Interstate Yellow? Cosmos Black in 2009?

ME!!!!!!!! I am waiting for the Midnight black, aka "cosmos black" I have a German brochure with the new colors in it. The Midnight black starts production in December. And they are doing away with the lightening blue as well.

For a tiny screencap of Horizon Blue (looks pretty dark, compared to Lightning Blue, which it is replacing)http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/10/...-color-update/

Cosmos will mimic Black Metallic with more Black than Astro (which is more midnight blue), and with silver/beige flake. I've seen it. It's an older BMW color, assuming they are bringing it back.

I am pretty disappointed that they are getting rid of laser blue. Its an awesome color and I was highly considering it for my next MINI. I guess I will have to go with either the black (which I am looking forward to because I don't care too much for AB in the sun when its no longer black) or chili red.

Kinda off topic but i almost want to wait for the 2010s in the hardtops. When i can finally order my mini (financial issues) if i just wait a couple more months they will release the new models. Worried tho that if i wait for the new model i wont like it as much as the older one, and vice versa if i dont wait and buy the current one... if that makes sense. What do you guys think??

Cosmos black was an original 1st Gen color that was deleted in the summer of 2004.The next black option is another metallic called Midnight Black that Jaguar has offered(assuming it's the same) for some time.

Yes I understand you. Thats basically what happened with me I bought an 07 in October. A few months later and they had 08, and really only a few months after that the 09s (they really rushed getting those 09s out). Now my car is only 11 months old, but now seems 2 years old

Ah yes you're right. The new black is called Midnight Black.

And yes, it's Lightning Blue that is being replaced by Horizon Blue - which surprises me because I thought it was a really nice looking blue, and was my front-runner before the new black announcement.

Personally, I would love to see an actual sample of horizon blue before lightning blue is no longer available (end of November - January). Seeing the actual differences would certainly affect my purchase timeline.

Mini's seem to constantly morph in many little ways.

I bought an older model year car brand new and felt that my car was old right a way. but why does it matter if the the model did not make big changes between the years. Also now you probably have the lowest miles of anyone with the same model year so when it is time to sell you will be in better shape.

True but an 09 would resell better 3 years from now than an 07 you know?

I agree, saw an Astro in the dealership, if I hadn't known it was supposed to be "black" I would have assumed it was a very dark blue. I always have had black cars and it is usually how I build a new one when playing with different websites. But, I actually had a very hard time liking any of the other colors enough to order one. So when I saw the Midnight black I was sold.

I have placed my order for a Midnight Black S, should have delivery around December 15th (crossing my fingers). I'll post pics as soon as I have her in my grubby little hands.

I have never owned a gloss Black vehicle, and likely never will.

However, Astro for me was a hands-down no-brainer. Once I saw how the black trim looked against other colors, I was drawn to the Astro. It minimized the trim from a distance, looks Black from 20 feet, then has a sparkle of midnight blue as you get close, and is just a stunner in person.

But hey, color is a personal choice. My P-car is Guards Red, and I wouldn't have it any other way, but other vehicles in the fleet are white, silver, etc.

Buy what you like, it makes a world of difference.

Cosmos black will be cool. So they are, or they aren't offering it...I'm confused?

I know they used to use that on E36 M3's...

I also think Astro Black is the same as the M color Carbon Black...or very very similar.
