Folks,

I just wanted to drop a note and:

1. Tell you that I made it to Hawaii last night, safe and sound. Good flight, other than the 3 movies only totally 300 minutes (on a flight that lasted 9:40).

2. Share that Tess gets paroled on Tuesday. She arrived a few weeks ago, so it's just a matter of swinging by and getting her. How's this for priorities: I'm stopping to get her before going to the new office / new job / new boss for the first time.

3. Say thanks for all of the good M2C2 memories. For a transient, I felt like one of the gang. It probably helped that I am named Art. What's one more, right?

If you're ever out in these parts, give me a holler.

 

Enjoy and say hello to Don Ho for me, if he is still kicking and if I am he probably is. He was in the Air Force same era as me and has big night club in Hawaii! Don't stare at Thongs, they'wll make you go crosseyed.

 

Hate to be the bearer of bad news -- he died about 18 months ago.

 

Aloha! Awesome news... now... what would be more AWESOMER.. is that a word? if the Army gods would give us orders to oahu! Now that is awesome... looking forward to seeing you again.. the Army family is a relatively small one.. we were in wiesbaden together.. you were not far from us recently.. so i guess I should go buy myhusband a speedo?!?!

This place is awesome. Walked to the store this AM with my daughter, and could see Honolulu, the USS Arizona / Pearl Harbor, and Daimond Head. Pants? Jackets? What are those?

 

Wow, Art! Are you lovin' it out there? Enjoying Mai Tais, fresh tuna, and the gorgeous climate?

When things settle down, please send some pics our way so we may live vicariously ...

 

One of the coolest things about Hawaii are the flowers--everywhere, right down to orchids on your plate at breakfast...and the sunsets, OMIGOSH, the sunsets!

I also remember the people sleeping on Waikiki beach, couldn't afford rooms but wanted to live in paradise for a while.

Enjoy yourself there in paradise, and if you get the chance, get over to Kaui, it's still "old Hawaii" but probably won't be for long...

Stopped by the Mini dealership today. Got new license plates, and ordered custom ones, too. First club meeting in this Sunday morning, for coffee. I'll miss the first autocross, because we're taking the Mini over to Maui -- that's right, we're driving to another island.

 

I didn't even know they would float? Have a great tour and love the sweet smell of the islands. Some places are low enough that if your on the beach you have to look up to see the water. Or maybe that was midway island been to alot of them. Gaum was nice also. Have fun with the kid because he will always remember the fun there.

use sunscreen and be sure to go see the sea turtles and have sdome ice cream at the Dole Plantation!

 

I was down there last week, to register the car with Mini USA. That was an odd conversation -- "This is a 2006 R53? It's not the in the system."

I linked up with HMMC yesterday, for coffee and small talk. They pointed us off in the right direction, so we went for a drive. Good group of folks. Autocross won't happen for me before I go -- we're off to Maui in two weeks, for a long weekend there to see friends.

Driving here is.... different. I had it up to 60 the other day....

 

Man you are going to have a blast just don't for get the meeting of the three Arts. Can you post our picture?
