Bluetooth voice/call quality ok?

I've searched the forums and found mixed reviews on the voice and call quality using bluetooth. Can anyone comment on how the voice quality is? Any weird echo or feedback from either end - caller and receiver? Thanks.

I haven't noticed any feedback or echo on either end. The only thing that I have had people ask is "what is that noise" when I have had the turn signal on. They can hear the flasher cycling. Sensitive mic....

My wife's R56 MCS factory BT works great with my BlackBerry 8800 on both ends. However, her Samsung SPH-M500 transmit's as if she is standing behind the boot! The incoming signal is great, though the receiver on the other end is barely audible...

BMW Canada responded that the SPH-M500 has not been tested, so I'm on my own.

This is my first "built-in" bluetooth, but I find the call quality excellent...I can hear fine and no complaints from other side. I've yet to figure out all features. For example, if I want to mute during teleconference I take in the car...I end up muting via handset. Although I'm sure there is some feature to do that on dash.

I've had 3 R56's with Bluetooth - first two were marginal quality - my current car a 09 JCW is much better in call quality and reception. BMW has a history of continually updating the Bluetooth modules. In the first two cars, people on the receiving end of my calls said I sounded like I was in a tunnel and the microphone was overly sensitive. This version is much better - I can actually leave the windows open and still have a decent sound quality conversation with someone.

Have not had any issues with sound quality...people do know we are in the car however, due to the Run Flats I think...Great feature BTW. And am so glad we added it to Molly!! WA is now "Hands Free", wish everyone else knew that!!

I've had my MINI about a month and have also had very good results using the BT. As others have reported, recipients tell me it's very clear on their end. I admit I was a little unsure about this option, but so far, it's worked flawlessly (with a Treo nonetheless).

i love it! i refuse to actually use my phone in the car instead of the bluetooth. only annoying thing, if you are on your phone and then get in the car, it switches to bluetooth automatically and there is a gap of silence where the other person is like hello hello? so you just have to remember and tell the person to hold on. but yeah, i used to ask people if they could hear me ok and everyone has been like yeah you sound great... even when i'm on the highway on a long road trip. so yeah, long story short, def worth the money. esp if you have an iphone, i love the ipod feature.

My bluetooth has got to be the worst thing in the world. All of my callers get annoyed because all they can hear is road noise, and I have to shout in order for them to hear me at all. I even moved the mic to the right(left) side, to no avail.

Maybe have my SA look at it?

Nothing but 100% here. Works fantastic. The only time I've ever had had anyone question about the quality is when I had the windows down and the sunroof open (guess it pushed it a bit much there!)

+1 on the turn signal, people can hear that (in case you're hoping to pretend you're in the office... )

I just got my 09 and it's my first car with intergrated Bluetooth, but it works fantastically. I had a really neat experience on Saturday when both myself and my long-time girlfriend spoke to my mom over the bluetooth. My mom could easily understand both of us, and we could clearly and easily hear her!

This is also my first car with built in BT and mine works great with my Samsung phone. I've become very annoyed by cellphone users driving in general, but if you've got to talk this is the way to do it.

I have a Samsung 760i. It's not one of the "approved" phones but it works awesome. My complete phone downloaded into the car, and have had no sound or volume issues. The only function that I have not been able to figure out is the voice comands. It's still frustrating.

thanks for the feedback guys. my mini dealer tells me on top of the $500 which gives you bluetooth and ipod adapter, its also recommended to pay 250 to get the steering wheel control. the steering wheel control also apparently gives voice activation and shows address book of the cell phone. is this true? Just thought i'd verify. also, what does the 500 give you in ipod capability that the car itself wouldnt normally? the usb drive connect?

09 JCW Owner as Krut stated, this works very well.

There is one mod where you move the mic. The mic is actually on the passenger side located in the bank of switches over head, driver's side for the UK version of the car. If you move that mic to the driver's side, they say you will come in stronger. I haven't done this yet but plan on doing so soon. I get very little complaints from the people on the other end. Its a wonderful option and it is my first time with a BT in the car.

The multifunction steering wheel allows you to control and make calls from the steering wheel through the pre-stored "Call Whoever" commands you've stored. Also the multifunction steering wheel will let you dial the last number dialed. The $500 USB/Bluetooth connectivity option includes the cable to connect to your iPod - all title and track information from your iThing (iPod/iPhone/iTouch)are displayed on the center stack radio controls. If you don't spec with the USB/Bluetooth option then you're fumbling with the iThing in the car while you're driving. Not easy to do.

Be aware that you must have the $250 Multi Function Steering Wheel if you want Cruise Control.

I don't have Bluetooth, NAV or any Telephone/USB installed, but MFS has two buttons that would be for the phone if installed.

Yeah, get the multi function steering wheel if you can afford it.

It gives you:
-Cruise Control
-Stereo volume controls on steering wheel
-Change station/change track controls on steering wheel

I have a Nokia2630 and no problems whatsoever. Some people don't even notice I'm using my car's handsfree system when I call them.
