James Bond License Plate

I need on of those James Bond license plate that turn to different numbers. I have had two people call the police and report that I am driving too fast and taking corners too fast. Can you believe that people would do that. Yes I drive too fast and yes I take corners too fast; however I don't do this when cars are in front of me or in danger.

So you want to do something else illegal as well? Save it for the track.

I believe it. When I was younger driving through a rural area with single lane roads I was pulled over. Asked the state policeman why since I wasn't speeding. Apparently someone in the previous county called to report I over took him/her in a no passing zone. Even the policeman was rolling his eyes.

yeah, I'd have to agree with the other kids - be more careful through there and modify your driving behavior. You can still do fun stuff, just be very careful and don't make it LOOK like you're speeding or taking corners too fast. And then use up that extra energy on the track or the twisties. Although having James Bond stuff on your car would be really fun.....

I believe the OP was making a rhetorical statement, probably just something he thought of and shared, thinking others might relate. I took it to be very light-hearted, and not serious.

These cars are different, they do have a fun factor. That's probably why we buy them. If it was strictly for the mileage, there are bigger gas sippers that are cheaper.

It is a fun car. I think he made a fun post.

Now, if he, in all seriousness, starts asking for plans on how to make/install such a device, then the heavy-handed comments would be more appropriate, IMHO.

Hey there NashStan-
Sorry to hear that people are harshing your mellow! I have a few suggestions, and remember, I don't know where you're doing this driving so these suggestions might not apply-

Be really careful in neighborhoods/subdivisions. People will report you there due to the children who may be playing nearby. While *most* parents will watch their kids, kids have no impulse control and will dart out into a street to get their ball or whatever... Even if kids aren't present, and the road is clear - there could be a "perceived" danger in the eyes of the residents.

Hwy 100- It's gotten ugly. Too many cars, too many people. Used to be a great place to open the throttle up a bit, but no more. State boys are patrolling it...

Same goes (even more so) with Hwy 96 West -especially around the Natchez Trace Bridge. My hubby got a warning for going 5 mph over the speed limit coming down the hill at Waddle Hollow.

Old Hillsboro Rd into Leiper's Fork- you have to be careful as there have been a few deadly accidents there, and some near deadly ones- the neighbors tend to report "risky" driving a lot more because of that.

Old Harding Road into Fernvale- Neighbors there will report "risky" driving due to it being a bike route, and also because Fernvale was devastated by the tornado and there are many blind spots where a logging truck will come out and kill you. Also there are plenty of deer and other animals who've been put out of sorts by the damage from tornado/loggers, and it's gotten dangerous to drive that road even in the speed limit.

Caney Fork Road- has just been chipped & tarred. Don't go down it- it will damage your car. Bicyclists have even stopped using it due to the road.

Old 96 from/to Leiper's Fork from Fernvale thru Kingsfield- lots of people walk this road &/or bike it. Neighbors are getting upset that drivers have "found" this road and are now being pro-active.

Natchez Trace Parkway- don't even try to speed/take turns too quickly on this- it's a Federal Road & the tickets START at $150. They love to pull people over... they'll even pull nice folks hauling hay to a friend over just to make sure it's not a commercial hay hauling. Will give horseback riders tickets if they get on the pavement. grrrr....

South Harpeth Rd and it's offshoots- again, badly hit by tornado. Some of the off shoot roads were actually pulled apart and are now just getting repaired. Dangerous under the best of circumstances.

I-840 between hwy 100 and I-40- Think the state boys are patrolling it a bit more, but I think it's still a good place to "blow out any air bubbles".... a little straight for my tastes :(

Hickman County/Maury County- lots of great roads, and less likely to be patrolled. Just check first on road conditions. With 840 being finished, some of the good back roads are being "redone" in hopes of a building boom (think Atlanta outer loop) so they maybe in repair.

Hwy 96 E from Franklin to M-boro- GREAT road, but now overpopulated and patrolled...

There are some wonderful twisty back roads (paved) NORTH of Nashville towards Ashland City- there are some deadly dangerous ones too- keep an eye on the news- I think at least one station has been reporting on a certain road between Ashland City and Clarksville that has been the scene of a few deaths recently.

I seem to remember a great drive off I-65 S on my way to Pulaski. I did it with the MB club... We were going to the Mar's plantation- Milky Way Farm. Also, some great roads out by Bell Buckle, Chattanooga, etc.

To the East- head up to the Plateau- LOTS of great back roads back there... And with lower populations there *should* be less harrassment. I drove some neat back roads up to Jamestown a few months ago. Unfortunately I was pulling a very very heavy horse trailer, so I couldn't enjoy them... booo hooo....

Hope that helps- Oh and remember, you don't have to go dangerously fast to have fun driving. A lot of the speed limits posted on the back roads are there for a reason, so practice your driving skills not necessarily your driving speed!

Vivi

You should know that very unpleasant things can happen overnight to a nice young man in the Nashville holding tank while waiting to see the bail setting judge on the next morning.

Life altering things.

It might be worse out in the surrounding counties!

Hey! I for one say !!!!

Good for you! You're enjoying your car! I can't wait as I will drive it like that too.

People are so uptight. I remember when I had my modded A4- going down the 405 at 70mph (not a big deal) and saw a yellow Lambo. So I sped up to check it out. It looked hella nice! Anyways, some ******* decided we were racing (an A4 racing a Lambo....uh, how missing the pt were these clowns? ) and when I changed freeways, I was in the slow lane going 60 and got pulled over.

Ridiculous. He nabbed me for tinted windows and took off.

I hope they all get hands free cell phone tickets if they try it again.

Tooting down the freeway at 40mph just ain't the vibe for some people. Leave those who can drive alone.

These things are out there. I know a few sportbike riders who use something similar to this.

Happy searching.

I'd take their advice and slow down on the roads you've been speeding on. There's got to be better places to enjoy driving. Just keep looking and ask others in your area. Two warnings are not going to go in your favor. Cops talk, and you don't want to be 'that guy in the Mini' when they pull you over...

Agreed. The MINI doesn't "blend" as well as something like a Corolla. Take it easy out there and hopefully you won't have future encounters with the local LEOs

To drive well at a fast speed, yes, it takes lots of skill.

I agree... To drive well. To simply speed takes no skill except the ability to push a gas pedal. The proof of this is in the obituaries every day.
