When you do, you'll realize that there is a right place and right time for everything. Take it to the track.

If you don't I feel sorry for those you end up hurting whether you kill someone or you kill yourself and your family ends up being the ones left behind hurting.

Commence flaming.

its just funny because a lot of you are hypocrites. You will preach no speeding and safe pleasent driving. Yet when I see most mini's on the road they are speeding or being thrown around a corner haha

do tell. Maybe the stories can change behavior before its too late.

Also, what happens when someone reports you? The cops pull you over and then what? Do you get a ticket, a warning, etc....?

I have yet to see a MINI driven that way on public roads where I am. Most people around here are pretty mature about it and save their energy for the track.

I'm in STLMINI's neck of the woods and agree with what he says.

I have to agree. Though they may not be drag racing or drifting around corners, I'd have to say that there is a lot of "spirited" driving for most mini owners.

I agree the track is the place to go wide open, push the envelope, etc, etc but if anyone can look me dead in the eyes and tell me they've never zipped through traffic, pushed it through a sweeping turn or really enjoyed the twisties by using the potential of their car, I'd call them a liar.

The difference is knowing how far to go... like most things in life, moderation is the key. If someone is driving like a maniac, they need not be on the street but a little playful/spirited driving is to be expected otherwise we'd all either own a full blown track car for the track or a yugo for the street. ('cause why would we need a turbo for the street? a just a cooper will get ya there the same)

I personally like to play on exit ramps and the twisties, the rest of you safety ***** can keep driving like you're driving a hearse.

Thank You. Glad someone sees it that way also. Im not saying go race people or take corners at 60. Im just saying you buy a mini to have fun. Nothing wrong with accelerating fast to the speed limit or taking a corner a little quick. I wish I still had my mini. It was a fun car. Now Im stuck with a huge truck that eats gas and takes corners at 10mph haha

thats funny. i punch it all the time, and do 80+ on freeway. one thing i realize, the people that obey the speed limit on teh freeway are the ones who cause accidents when they change their lanes.

i hate it when people start throwing out the "grow ups" and the "young people dont know how to drive" you say it with such arrogance as if you dont speed and or take corners fast ever....save it for the track......lol please.

Most.ridiculous.argument.ever.

So if I speed, I hurt and kill people?

I've driven several fast cars in my life. I speed because I like to drive fast, I love the feeling, love the sensation. Been doing so ever since I was 16 yrs old.

Never once hurt anyone, never once killed anyone- in fact, never once got a speeding ticket.

Just because speeding isn't for you, don't preach your dayglow set of morals to myself. Instead, go buy a Prius. Or a Honda Civic. A new lightning blue one.

And stay in the right lane when I pass you. I promise, I'll still wave.

Seriously hope that you never get hurt, or hurt anyone,
but check out the fact of impact force increasing by the square of the speed increased.

Perhaps that would put teeth in the old saying... "Speed Kills".

Thank you, Mr Assumption.

But you're assuming "driving fast" means "driving reckless".

So stick to 40 mph and a cup of Starbucks. Just stay to the right.

Pretty simple.

Again, never said that. And never said one should stick to 40 or drink Starbucks while driving. Now who's making assumptions?

One last note... If the OP is close enough to others for them to read his license plate he's not a safe distance away to be driving the way he describes.

I'll see your and raise you a .

BTW, I'm going to stop following this thread so if you'd like to continue making assumptions about me you can PM me.

Driving "too fast" is understandable.

I take corners "too fast" all the time - especially when nobody else is around. That takes skill, if you have a powerful FWD or RWD car (more fun in RWD, IMO though).

In fact I have a few favorite offramps I like to take at high speed...

My license plate is 007 ELmO.

There is nothing wrong with SAFE spirited driving. If you are stupid and do it around school zones, residential housing, weave in and out of traffic, etc. then I would have to concur that those actions are not safe and would be worthy of flaming.
There is a lot of unfair people on NAM who are typically hypocritical (if the shoe fits ....). They stand atop their pulpit and preach telling others how wrong and imperfect they are, shaming them for there actions all the mean while excluding/ forgiving themselves of their own transgressions in a case of self_righteous reasoning.
Im disappointed in many peoples remarks on NAM. I would have to believe the OP was making a joke surely this is not reason to flame anyone .
Perhaps anyone who wants to critize the OPs statement should hang up the phone when they drive, avoid ALL ALCOHOL while driving this includes any any any alcohol (so the after work 1 beer is out, 1 is too many to drive, sorry BAR OWNERS), Stop looking behind you while driving to reprimand your constantly Misbehaved children, stop stuffing McDonalds down your mouth while steering your car with your knees, and a coke between you thighs.
I can all but promise you everyone on NAM has a bad or unsafe driving habit. Its always easier to shift blame on someone else however ....isnt it

Just a reminder...

NAM Community Guidelines:

LEGAL
Posts relating to street racing, excessive speeding, or violations of other laws are prohibited. If you want to race, take it to a legal venue.
Remember that posting things like that on here just adds another search result to Google, and adds to the preconceptions people may already have.

What preconceptions exist for MINI owners? After 800 or so posts the only one I can think of is MINI owners are very slow and super considerate, mindful, never law breaking, never careless motorists and always super sensitive to other peoples feelings Im joking incase anyone cannot sense my sarcasm

On my all black C6Z06 I wired in a switch to the fuse panel. Hit the switch and it would turn off license plate lights, side markers, and tail lights. All that would remain on was the headlights....which could independently be shut off of course. I haven't done this to the Mini as I don't have 600hp to escape going to jail as I used to all the time. None the less for night driving this is your best bet.

Just remove your licence plate....if the cops try to catch you just drive as fast as you can and hope your mini will fit on a bicycle path so you can make a clean escape...then you can tell all your friends about your wild adventure.....

Or you could drive through the sewers to elude capture.
