Slow Cooper?

Hey All,
Just took my new Copper S to the dealer for some minor service and got a non S as a loaner. Good gosh this car is slow, I'm happy I made the right choice. Other things of note how do you Sunroof people deal with all the glare and the grey headliner looks very cheap.

they have the need to go 200 mph!

(actually I'm just kidding bro if that didn't come across.
justacooper is plenty fast for many people )

*sigh* Okay, I'll bite.

Re: the sunroof... I don't know what you're doing wrong, but I don't have this problem. I suspect you are simply not used to the idea of open top driving. I love the sunroof, and am so glad I got it.

I don't like the anthracite headliner, too much $$ for an accessory that makes the car look like Dracula's coffin, and sometimes, so that I don't hurt people's feelings, I keep crap like that to myself.

My Justa will still do 126 mph and I have no idea why on earth you would think this is slow. This is more speed than one can legally attain on a public road in this country, and unless you race, more than you will ever actually need, regardless of what you think. If you do race, then know that I have seen more than one lap time for a JustaCooper that will blow the doors off your S any day of the week. Perhaps this is because slow is relative and has a lot more to do with who's behind the wheel than with the capability of the vehicle.

I know I made the right choice in skipping the S.

Slowness was most evident in the merging onto the highway and switching lanes. I'm sure you could make it to 126mph but the acceleration is still bunk.

Also anyone who opts out of navigation pckg = super cheap, and a non JCW? S-L-O-W! I hear that chili red paint causes cancer and anyone who drives mellow yellow is more likely to be lactose intolerrant. Furthermore, all your personal tastes and preferences that make you unique and our cars different? WRONG! They're all Wrong!!!

Tsk, tsk, stan11003... Remember not everyone bought a MINI for the reasons that you did... Different strokes for different folks!

Enjoy & Motor On!

I guess.. Some people are Atheist or Republicans or Liberals or Gay but we still discuss our opinions on things. Some guy with an M3 may say he doesn't understand Mini drivers with their cramped slow cars. It doesn't offend me that someone thinks differently. I'm not going out vandalizing Non-S minis, I just don't care for them.

I hear ya....I've driven lots of MCSs and JCWs and I still prefer a Cooper. To me it all comes down to driver expectation....what previous cars have they enjoyed, what do they expect to happen when they put their foot down, or hit some curves. If the car meets your expectation then you're good to go...if not, you may not like it. Frankly, I'd be surprised if there were many MCS owners who would be happy jumping right into a Cooper...although there are a few who are.

Vive la difference! I love my sunroof, it makes life worth living. And I have always wondered if the anthracite headliner would make it hot inside. It seems like it would.

No, but even though yesterday was a really crappy day to be an investor...

...today is an AWESOME day to track down bargains on the street.

Nice that you were able to choose a car that pleases you. Sad that you feel a need to step on other choices to feel superior.

#1! Glad that my non-Super Copper has (in five months) not needed to return to the Dealer for Any "service".

Sunroof, for me, was critical in my choice to get a MINI and only other choice would have been to wait for next summer's release of the updated Cabrio
(and see if I wanted it).

Black headliner (especially without a sunroof) would be hard to take, nevermind the waste of money.

I won't have to wait for a need of a 'loaner' for a chance to drive a Super Cooper as I already did that before choosing what to buy.

The better balance and handle of the Cooper sold me, without even considering the better looks.

This morning when I was entering the freeway there was no one in front of me and there was no cop in sight. I gave it a full throttle in the 2nd gear and the car leaped forward like a bat coming out of a cave. My had was pressed against the head rest and my MINI baseball cap was peeling off my head and I shifted to the 3rd gear and I was going faster than the legal speed limit. I eased off the gas pedal and shifted into the 6th and cruised. I would not mind a JCW but I would mind a Just a Cooper.

Stan,

This is all hypothetical but just suppose you came across a thread that read like this:

"Just took my JCW in for work and was given a regular S as a loaner. Boy, what a dog. I'm glad I got the JCW, the S is too slow. Also, how do those Chili Red people stand it. It is such a gaudy color. And those driving lights, what a cheap look."

How would you feel?
