My temp shows in C, not F! Why? How?

The external temperature displayed on the tachometer as well as the temperature I set the AC/Heater to both show in Celsius! This happened out of the blue a month ago. It went away after a few days but now it's back!

This is my daughter's '03 CVT. We bought it used and don't have an owner's manual. I've searched but been unable to find any thread on this topic here.

Any help on how to set these displays back to Fahrenheit would be appreciated, and any advice on whether this phenomenon is a sign of a bigger problem to come also.

Press and hold the Auto button on the A/C controls until it changes back to F. That's the only way to do it actually. Someone must have been pushing the button little longer than necessary

Thanks!

I would never have figured that out in 10 million years.

Thanks much.

Did that work for you? Pressing/holding the "Auto" button doesn't do anything on my '06, as far as I can tell.

To switch between °F and °C on mine, I have to press/hold the A/C button (the "snowflake"), and then while I have it held down, tap the footwell vent button (the lower-right button on the A/C controls). To toggle it back, I release both buttons and repeat the procedure. This changes the display both at the auto A/C controls and in the tach.

I guess the procedure might have changed between '03 and '06.

As you mentioned, the procedure, as well as the button layout/labeling, are different between 03 and 06.

Glad it worked out for you. I'm happy to have learned something new from this thread as well. I didn't realize that procedure was one of the things that changed with the "facelift" in 2005.

Neither did I... they probably had too many complaints from people who switched it by mistake, so they made it more difficult to switch.

Thanks

Worked for my daughters 04 MC. Press and hold Auto button. Couldn't figure out how it got that way but now we know the solution was also the cause: daughter held Auto button down too long. Thanks again.
