0-60 (zero to sixty) time?

I've searched but numbers dont seem to work well with the search function. anyone have a rough guess as to what a 0-60 time would be for an 04 mcs with 202whp and 180ft lb? My friend is buying a mazdaspeed3 tomorrow (im driving him to columbus to pick it up) and im curious to how we'd compare on paper. I dont want to race on the road and find out. I know who is behind the wheel is the important thing along with tires, so that is another reason I'm just curious about what it would be on paper. any ideas or guesses?

his car is said to do it in 5.8 seconds. i doubt i'd be that fast, but i have not even a ballpark guess.

I think the JCW with 207bhp is at like 6.2 seconds, isn't it??? you might be that fast.

i have 202 WHP....that means my bhp would be in the neighborhood of 230hp factoring in standard 14% drivetrain loss.

thanks for the link. i guess thats a rough estimator...just gota get my curb weight.

mazdaspeed3's are quick in the straights. even if you have 230 at the crank, the ms3'll still have 30 more. but it is heavier, and your r53 will out-handle him

didn't know what the drivetrain loss would be, but figured you be higher then the JCW and figured that would put you in the 5's, would be interesting to see what it really is.

you should take him. i was a half a car length behind a RSX-S (w/ mods) in a dig and a 30 pull and he is 500 lbs heavier and 250+ to the crank.. mazda should be an easy get.

I used a G-Tech to check my 0-60 time. I have an '05 MCS/JCW with LSD, temp was in the 60's, running stock Pirelli runflats on S-Lites. I did 0-60 in 6.23 seconds, BUT I slightly bogged it off the line and floored it at about 5 mph, shifted at redline, no clutch feathering, and did NOT powershift. I feel that 5.9 would be possible with my car IF I was willing to use an aggressive launch and shifting technique. I'm just not willing to abuse a car that I spent nearly $40K for.

You can certainly do better if you're willing to punish the car more than I am. I hope this sheds some light on it for you.

well we got back yesterday. While we didnt race, we couldnt resist from goofing around a bit on the way home. we never broke the speed limit, nor did we go from a dead stop. From the couple times he floored them beside each other, the MINI did pull on him. He's never driven my car, but was extremely surprised how fast it was. I didnt get the chance to try out his car because i was in a hurry to get back for a football game. But will definitely do it in the next few days. just seeing his car hang in with mine was impressive as well. Considering it is that fast right out of the box and for less than 25k.

The guy that has the VW GTImkV already admitted defeat after driving my friends MS3, but we are all lookin forward to going to the track soon.
