Closest spraypaint match to Dark Silver?

Anyone have any suggestions for a spray paint that matches Dark Silver closely? I want to paint my wheels a matte Dark Silver but the clearcoat will take care of the matte finish. I just need a spray paint that is as close to Dark Silver as possible.

HEELLLPPPPP

Go to your local PPG or DuPont dealer. They can look up the code. If not call your local dealer(MINI) and get the code from them and take it back to the correct store Thank is how I got my Indi Blue

Try these guys.
http://www.expresspaint.com/
It's real automotive paint in a can.
I've used one of their sister companies for painting motorcycles and the color was dead on. If you've already got the clear this base coat should be a spot on match. If they don't have your color code you can call them and they will match paint.

dupli-color high performance wheel coating has a color that is really close. and it's made for wheels

there are only 4 or 5 colors for the wheels so it's easy to see which silver it is

yeah and the wheel paint is really good stuff , its what i used on the mini, my 240 and my specv ,some where on for over a year with no problems, the key is lots of coats of color, clear, and if you want it matt more color, usually 1 can for 2 rims is good for both the clear and paint

the mini wheels had the paint stripped off before i bought them

240sx was light silver

and the specv was light gunmetal, i taped the lip off very very carefully , and even left the tires on

Thanks for all the heads up. I like the idea of getting Dark Silver mixed into a spray can at PPG. Hopefully it's cheaper than Minspeed. The paint code is 871 for anyone interested, got it from mini2.

The Dupli-Color HP Wheel Coating in Graphite does look like a pretty close match to DS.

Let me know how that goes please....I need hot chocolate in a spray can for the same reason

How many cans do you think you're getting? I can't decide how much is necessary for 4 wheels.

I've been checking a lot of DIY threads and it seems that 2 cans is enough (over 4-5 coats per wheel). I'll get back to you on the cost.

What clear coat do you plan on using? And more importantly, what wheels are you painting?

16x7 and 16x8.....if I play my cards right....I'll be tucking 16" rim

Polished lips, gold-plated bolts, hot-chocolate brown centers, and Pepper white inner barrels (to match my PW interior) You think that sounds good?

I'm not a big fan of colored lips on 3-piece wheels. It cheapens the look in my opinion.

Hmm I gave this some thought and I agree.

Time to call up the PPG distributor and see what they have to offer us.

I called a couple of distributors today and these are the prices I got.

Sherwin-Automotive (spray cans not offered):
- 1qt of Dark Silver - $31.40
- 1qt of flat clear coat - $59.xx

PPG (spray cans not offered):
- 1qt of Dark Silver - $79.15

One of the distributors told me there was a shop close to them that offers the spray cans, he didn't know the name/address though. I'll try to check it out today.
