Ok to drive to deal with 3 lug bolts?
Ok to drive to deal with 3 lug bolts?
So I was washing my car today and noticed on my rear left wheel I was missing a lug bolt
!!
I torqued the bolts and the others were a little loose as well. I had recently got some work done at a body shop on my rear bumper, not sure if they had to take the wheels off.
Anyways, is it ok if I drive about 20 miles to the dealer to get a lug bolt with 3 on the one wheel?

Well, you're running with 75% of the capability of a normal 4 lug setup. If you have to, I'd say go slow, avoid major roads, and really pay attention. If you feel the slightest thumping or vibrating, STOP. If you do it, I'd also suggest carrying a socket and torque wrench and stop to check them every few miles.

I agree...go ahead and go, but do it windows up and radio OFF. This way you can really hear everything, also having the back seats down would help too. Carry the socket and wrench with you. It should be ok as long as you drive carefully.
FYI, we've let people autoX locally who only have 4 out of 5 lugs, as long as everything else is sound and its only one wheel...but it is iffy.
