Just did a transplant tonight!

Okay, well it wasn't a heart transplant, however, I did perform an eye transplant this evening!

Around last week, I saw a pair of '05/'06 Projectors on ebay and jumped on them. I was able to get both headlights for $550.00 shipped. Amazing, because I was expecting myself to not be lucky enough find a set, or even one light, that was in good condition, but these are perfect!

Unfortunately, I am so proud of them that I just had to take some pictures...

Halfway there, amazing how dated the vehicle looks with the old style of light...

With lights on, again, totally different looks. The projectors just look so much more upscale.

ouch, I know I cleaned up all of the fluids so nobody would be too grossed out...

Finished! I love them!

It's Alive!

Much better.

I am in love with them, and the cutoff is much, much better than before. Since they were purchased as a set and came off of one car, they were already adjusted so I don't have to fiddle around with cutoff height!

One thing that was a little odd that I noticed was that the lights didn't fit as well as the originals, sort of what was being pointed out with the aftermarked halo lights from ebay. Luckily the slight gapping is on the bottom, so it really isn't noticeable. Has anybody else who has done this experienced slight gaps where there were none before?

Thanks! I think that I may be in for a Joey mod soon, I'm thinking DS with black bezels

I got the set complete with ballasts and bulbs for $550.00! I was so happy. I was definately expecting something in the 600-700 range before shipping...

If and when you can, do it. I am a really big lighting person, they are definately worth it, even if you have to pay the $1600.00 from the dealer...

There shouldn't be a problem with fitment unless your hood is slightly bent, like mine.

It seems that if either of my headlights ever break, I will have no trouble finding the old style headlights to replace it with. To me, the old style just has more personality and cuteness to it.

Well, I'm not so sure being that I have yet to compare mine with US-spec 05/06 lights.

If I were to guess, I'd say the cutoff is sharper than US-spec...and there's also a little lever inside each headlight to adjust the cutoff from asymmetrical to symmetrical. I'm assuming you'd go to a symmetrical cutoff when you're driving in areas like the UK where traffic is on the left hand side of the road. If you don't do this, the step-up portion of the cutoff would blind oncoming traffic in these countries.

Those sound pretty cool, I really like the idea of being able to adjust the cutoff. How'd you get ahold of a set of those?

My gf is Swiss, and she just so happened to go back to Switzerland for a few weeks this summer. I had her pick up a set from a dealer in Zurich.

It was actually cheaper than buying a set from a US dealer, oddly enough.

I've been meaning to post pics of the little lever, I'm kind of curious if the US lights have these or not...

You definately should! I'd be happy to go out and look at mine once i found out and saw the location of the lever; I really doubt that we got anything nifty though!

If you've already got Xenons, then this swap is plug-n-play. Strangely enough, the headlights I installed (new in box) seemed to be pre-aimed. I only had to tweak out one headlight about a half turn down to get the headlights properly adjusted.

Mine were just plug and play. I already had the old style of Xenons. Quite literally one plug per headlight. Easy as ever compared to what I had to go through to get Xenons on my BMW...

how far ahead of your car would you say that the cutoff is? I just used mine tonight, and unfortunately it seems like they are WAY too low...

If I were to guess, I'd say on level ground the flat part of the cutoff would be about 40 feet ahead of the car. I do not blind anyone on the road, and I double checked the aim according to the guide here:
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html

That's when I found that one of my headlights was actually a hair too high. The other one was spot-on!

Thanks for that. I need to see if my lights are aimed right because I think they are too low.

chase, you plan on taking any pictures of the headlight pattern? im very curious how the factory lights are aimed and how the cutoff looks. my xenons came of 2 different cars, so of course they need to be adjusted.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I've got pics of what the cutoff looks like on my Euro-spec '05-'06 Xenons:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co....php?p=2391826

I'd also like to see what the US-spec cutoff looks like, to see if there's any real difference.

Could have been! Actually, the seller that had these up didn't have a buy it now option, he just priced them at $90 to get the ball rolling. He said that there were a lot of offers via email, however, since I was the high bidder, he would give me the chance to purchase them first. I told him that I was prepared to spend $500.00, and another $50 on shipping, he said the best way to end the auction was to send money to paypal, so I jumped on it! Sorry if I snagged the ones you were looking at (however, if you really didn't need them )

Okay, here are a few pictures of what the lights look like. I have adjusted the beam pattern to personal preference and along the lines of what I remembered from the S2000 that I used to drive, and the height is where I remember my reflector housings being around; I also made sure that they weren't blinding oncoming traffic by borrowing somebody's car and driving towards my car on a hill and a flat surface.

Close to the garage:

Hope this helps!

by the way, SnYpR, Have you gotten your 6000k bulbs in yet? Any pictures?
