Long-Time Lurker, Finally Ordering My Mini

Hello all,

Long-time lurker here who is finally ordering his first Mini on this coming Saturday! I am so excited!!!!

My Coop is going to be a non-S, either in BRG or Lightning Blue, (still trying to decide,) with the white roof/mirrors. Just basic options, such as Xenons, Multi-Function steering wheel, Sport seats, and of course white stripes.

I'm in the Kansas City area and ordering from Baron Mini. Any input or tips on how to get some things thrown in on delivery, (I really don't want to pay for floor mats, and would like to get tint thrown in too,) would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forwarding to joining this very active community of owner's/enthusiasts!

Happy Motoring,

-Ben France

Glad to see another lurker making a foray into the world of MINI ownership! I recently purchased a MCS lightning blue/white and I absolutely love it. I have to day that the online color picker doesn't do any of the colors justice! I have a few pics in my gallery (although they are admittedly bad) and have some others which I have not gotten around to loading in. Let me know if you want to check them out. I like the BRG as well but in my opinion the LiBlue is far more pleasing to me. However, that is me, and the only one who will really know what they want is you.

Good luck on floor mats and tint. Unfortunately I didn't get any freebies other than a plug for a puncture I got in my Pilot when we pulled in to take delivery of the MINI. So to be fair, that was more than enough.

Good luck! Just remember, as Tom Petty says, the waiting is the hardest part.

Who is your MA? I ordered a JCW Hardtop last week from Baron Mini. They didn't seem to inclined to give me much of anything for free. Then again, they also didn't seem to want to screw me on any of the dealer fees.

Congrats Ben....good luck w/ that color decision. It's a toughy!!! I'm a big fan of lightly (but purposefully) optioned Coopers...will your be an '08 or an '09? I'm guessing an '08?

Congrats Ben on going to place your order this coming Saturday

Choosing the right color can be a bit of a challenge but all of the colors are great so it will be a win/win either way on what you end up picking.

I don't have the paperwork with me, but I think the MA I spoke to was Liz (?). She sits right below teh spriraling ramp against the wall.

Congrats on the JCW! That's going to be a really nice ride! Did you see the red/black JCW that they had in the back? It's what sold me on the cloth interior, (even without the red color line,) and sport seats.

How has your experience with Baron been so far?

Yeah, I've test driven the red and black one in the back twice. It's also what convinced me that I should go ahead and get the cloth seats.

My experience has been pretty good. I've never had a car buying experience where the sales people were so laid back. I've come in multiple times to ask questions, and each time they basically give me a set of keys, and let me tinker until I'm satisfied.

I kept expecting them to ask me "so do you want to sit down and order one" or something like that. But it never happened. I actually had to come in and say "ok, how do I put an order in?".

Anyways, mine is scheduled for production now and I'm very excited. I'm holding out hope to get a few extras for free at delivery. After all... I havent signed anything yet

I agree completely. I'd love to go hog-wild with the options, (I actually spec'd one out that was coming really close to touching 30k,) but for what I really NEED it seems kinda of silly to do that.

The car will actually be an '09. According to my MA, the '08 allocation wasn't really large and the '09s are what are being produced now.

Thanks for the congrats, it's going to be a long 8 weeks....

Thanks for the congrats! I've been lusting over these cars since I drove a oxygen blue mc in May of '07!

I figure that if the color is the toughest decision I have to make on the car, then that's a pretty smooth purchase! *lol*

I'm ordering up in Canada and with our dollar almost on par with yours, our MSRP is still just over 29,000 for the cooper S with no options! What is it in the US? 22,000? Its pretty hard to take seriously.

Well seeing as the U.S. dollar has gone to complete crap it does seem like a rather nice deal. I feel like they are going to increase the prices soon.... WATCH OUT!!!!

Ordered my Cooper Memorial Day weekend. Just as it was being delivered July 4th weekend I decided I really wanted a Cooper S with plenty of options. So, I cancelled my first order and was allowed to make a second order. No big deal as the dealer sold the first car within days. Now I didn't track the second order which arrived end of August and finally to my carport on Monday. Big Surprise as I was expecting it much later in the year. Anyway, I'm glad I re-ordered and got the car I really wanted even though I spent more than I wanted. The S has plenty of zip. But the big, huge, bodacious problem now is that my wife is driving the car!! I've driven it just once!

^^TomBT that is great to hear and congrats

Regarding your wife always driving your new MCS well I guess it could be worse in that she would hate it.

BTW didn't you get the memo when you got married? Where what is hers is hers and what is your is hers too.
