New Tires for MCS

I am thinking about getting some new tires for my MCS. I am looking for a good performing all season tire that will have a good amount of life. Any suggestions? Also, do I have to put the TPMS on the new tires? I want to put 205/45/17 inch tires on the car.

I just ordered a set of 205/45/17 Yokohama S Drives tires and they should be here very soon. I'll write some first impressions and after breakin report. There are some good options out there and info from the Tire Rack was helpful, also replys here too. Bill

Go to Tire Rack and look at Avons. Great tire, great price but not designed for track. Just all around good tire value. I purchased these to replace run flats and had them installed on OZ rims. You will like the way they handle.

i've been running Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S all seasons on my '07 since a week after I bought the car. They have been excellent, weren't very expensive, and after 16K miles they have a lot of life left. The ride is better and quieter then the stock run flats and they offer great grip.

I haven't used them but many people think the Goodyear F1 all-seasons are the best. I'm just not a big Goodyear fan..

I just purchased a set of Continental ContiProContact SSR's yesterday to replace the crappy Goodyear RSA Runflats. So far I am pleased with them. ALOT less road noise and they seem to handle very well. Tread wear I think is about 40-50k miles (I guess we will wait and see ). I found them on TireRack's website. They are also a Runflat, but a Grand Touring All Season Runflat.
Good Luck in your tire search!

My Yokohama S Drive tires arrived this afternoon. Info on the side was 205/45/17 "re-inforced sidewall". I hope this makes them reasonably stiff. Won't be able to get them mounted until Tuesday. More later.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, you can just transfer your TPMS valve stems to the new tires

I'm either getting the S Drives or some Nitto Neo Gens in that same size soon. I have BFG Potenzas on my 16" stock wheels now, (picked up some Rota Slipstreams at a good price), and they're good tires.

There are so many good tires out there these days, if you watch the boards and do a little research, you can't go wrong. If you're me, you're looking for a new set in a year anyway! ;-)

I would recommend Falken Ziex ZE 912. They were rated #1 Ultra High Performance Tire by Consumers Report in Dec. of '07. The tire has very good wet and dry traction and is quiet as well. The asymmetrical tread design allows you to rotate in any direction to maximize tread life.
