Got my MCS in July, its a June 03 build. Yes, it has/had the stumble.

To clarify, the stumble as I describe it is when in first gear I give full gas and release the clutch quickly, the power drops for a half second then goes. This made quick left turns in front of oncoming traffic quite scary. I found letting the cluthc out slower and more evenly reduced this to almost non-existant (but I did take off slower).

I installed the Alta Intake and found that I no longer have this huge drop in power when 'popping' the clutch and quick starting. Some people here advised me that it is only a temporary relief and that the stumble may come back. So far not.

I mentioned before in other posts that both the MCS that I test drove both had a stumble like this.

My suggestion, get the car if you love it. It is absolutely fun to drive. You can adjust your driving habits a bit to compensate for the stumble if it is on your car. Or add a $200 intake which may help and add to the fun (it increases the lovely supercharger whine). Supposedly BMW/MINI are working on a solution as so many people have complained and a major recall or class action suit may face them if they don't address it.

Bottom line, it doesn't make or break the car, but can be frustrating.
I believe the other benefits outweigh this issue.

Cheers!

Just received my mid-July build S (Finally!), and I am happy to say that I have not noticed any stumble, yo-yo etc. Just a smooth pull all the way through the rpm's, under slow or fast acceleration.

Cheers!

Good deal, Ovrkll! Congrats on your new MCS. When the MINI's run properly, they are a joy to drive and are so much fun.

See ya,
JS

Since I do not drive the car every day, I'm not sure, but it does seem that some times when I step on the pedal, it doesn't want to GO in first gear. My girlfriend also said the same thing when I mentioned it to her. It is her daily driver.

Received my MCS on 8/20 and have not experienced the "stumble" problem. Sure, there is the occasional hesitation if the revs aren't high enough. But if the revs are there, there's no problem. I also have the Madness Air Intake but I still can't remember a serious "stumble" b4 I installed it.

Help, news, and hope.

HELP:
Turn off the DSC (tranction controll) toggle switch. Make sure there is an orange triangle on the bottom of the speedo. It makes a big difference. No more near stalling in left turn situations.

NEWS:
I just took my car in for the 12,000 mile service.
Now I can't say for certain, but it seems more responsive.
I don't know if they installed new software or not, but I can really feel
a difference. I wouldn't say that it is gone entirely, but the stumbe seems
much improved and the yo-yo is near gone.

HOPE:
I talked to my MINI advisor about the reported stumble fix.
He told me that the fix is in the works. In fact, two MINI engineeers were in Phoenix from Germany last week to work on the stumble. They were told in 6 months, there will be a fix.
