How to NOT care for wheels?

I've used Meguiar's or Black Magic wheel cleaner on my Dodge Intrepid for years and they both work great. My question is this: are the wheels on my Clubman coated with anything straight from the factory? Will either product damage them if they are? I'm asking this because I've heard of some car manuals warning owners that not all wheels have the same finish even though the material looks similar.

You need to order some Wheel Armour from www.detailersparadise.com, it works great on MINI Wheels and keeps the Brake Dust to a minimum with easy cleanup.

The factory wheels are just painted and clear-coated. So you can use most wheel cleaners (check the labels) and waxes on them. Depends on your strategy - some people like to wax the wheels and then just gently wash them, some just use good cleaners to melt the brake dust off. Either method works fine.

I'm firmly in the Wheel Armor camp. I can usually just spray off the brake dust with a hose if I don't let it go too long.

Wheel Armor is both a cleaner, and a wheel wax. I have been using it for about a year now with great results.

The only thing mine are coated in is brake dust.

+1 on the Wheel Armour. Much of the dust hoses off and what's left comes off easily with the left over wash water.

I bought a soft brush with a bumper around the edge, just for the wheels. Works great on the dust and the bristles are long enough to reach down into the recesses for the lug nuts. I still have to use a more traditional soft wheel bursh (you know the kind with bristles all around) to get between the spokes.

Overall, the whole cleaning process takes about five minutes total. I clean the back sides and re-apply the Wheel Armour when I rotate the tires.

Hope that helps ...

Peace !

i use wheelshield (pre-armor days)maybe once every season start and end.

but during the season i use Hydro. After washing the wheels with
car shampoo and a boar's hair brush, i spray Hydro and wipe down
using a paper towel. no the papertowel will not scratch the surface
unless you wipe dry over grit.
