*REALLY* dumb question about Dayton Rims

I pulled the trigger on a set of 4 used Dayton wire rims on Ebay because they were 15's. And because they were $650 shipped.

Stop laughing.

After I found out that my Non-S has 4 lugs, and the rims were 5 lugs (I said stop laughing !), I started looking around for adapters. There are after market adapters to get the job done, but the guy at Dayton tells me the offset for the rims I bought will only fit an American rear wheel drive, like a Mustang for example. No adapter will make these fit.

Am I screwed? I guess I could put them back on Ebay or Craigslist.. I'm madder than a wet cat.

I hate "learning opportunities".

What is the offset?

There are some adapter kits out there, but they are expensive and they only work with some wheels offsets.

Send a PM to Konky or "Rally@ StanceDesign" They are both very knowledgable about fitments. Just tell either that you could use some feedback and are new to it, and made a boo boo.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give them a shout. I think I'll probably end up Craigslisting 'em, though. Now that I've asked a few gearhead pals, I hear that you run into problems with the adapters - wheel well rubbing, weird vibration & noises on turns, etc. It might be easier in the long run to just sell them and buy the right ones instead of throwing $ at a mistake.

Throwin D's in the Mini hua?

Any reasion? Just keepin it real?
I think with the way they mount if you did find an adapter they would stick out WAY too much. they have a hub type way to mount. So putting a adapter then the spindle and then the rim just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

If their offsets are RWD offsets and a low number, unfortunately there won't be a way to make them fit. Depending on the 5 lug pattern, the adapters are probably 25mm thick......that's 25mm that you SUBTRACT from the original offset. To properly fit a mini, a 7" wide wheel wants the offset to be around 35-40.....so unless the original offset is in the 60's they probably wont fit.

I'm interested in seeing pics or hearing about their specs. I can try helping if you think there is a chance that they will work. I'd love to see them on a mini

And the wheel...

Dayton does have a 16 and 17" MINI application.

ALL-right smartypantses .. I ain't fixin' to bust any Flava Flav moves on da hooptie. I'm going for the vintage/british thing.

Like dis: http://www.daytonwirewheels.com/mini-cooper.htm

Anyway, these are no good. According to a gearhead pal, it's a bunch of work to get something that I'll be messing with and having to keep an eye on all the time.

Who else makes a similar rim for that old school/Avengers look? Aluminum would be OK, not really looking for 500 spokes or the gold toofies effect

Yah, I never liked that pic. The stance is pretty rough and the daytons would probably look better with a little more lip on them.

Interesting Dayton Wheel trivia...

The owner of Dayton Wire Wheel has 2 sons, one of which owns Forgeline the other a big retail wheel/tire operation called The Speed Source.
