MINI Family

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your prayers and cards for Jerry. He is recovering slowly so keep Jerry and his family in your prayers. We have another member who needs your prayers. Scott and Kay Lamont. Kay just found out she has lung cancer and was a smoker but quit in the early 90's. Please keep them in your prayers! Also our condolances to David Thomas & family for the loss of his father. Will keep you updated. Luke, Prez

Those of us who are not suffering need to realize how thankful we should be, and we'll keep those who are in our hearts and thoughts...

I am posting because I need some support. I havent done much with the group lately and I miss all of you!

My mom went into the hospital on August 16. We took her to Cleveland Medical Center here in Shelby. They said they didnt have any beds available but we have an open case against them from the last time she was in the hospital in March. Long story but they damaged her left arm and she has been in therapy since. So they transfered her to Carolina Medical in Charlotte. I have been going back and forth pretty much everyday trying to get Grandma up there and the kids. I started a job about a week before she went into the hospital so I am juggling work, kids, Grandma and trying to make sure my dad is taken care of himself too. The kids went back to school which believe it or not is harder. Grandma has to stay home alone and she is stubborn sometimes and won't use her walker.
Today we are finding out that her colon may have to be removed. I guess, we havent gotten 100% confirmation, that her blood vessels are restricting blood flow to the colon. From the arm damage back in March she is now losing circulation into her left arm and is in danger of losing her hand.

I just need my MINI friends to pray for her!!!!! We are all a little scared and when you see your dad cry its harder!! Theres not much anyone can do physically for me but when you pray remember to keep her in your prayers!!!!
Thanks so much!

UPDATE!!

I am so appreciative of all of you and needed to hear all that.

My mom had another colonoscopy today and its not giving us the news we were hoping for. She may have to have her colon removed. They are trying to get her well enough to get out of the hospital so she can go on a scheduled cruise in September. Then after the crusie we will discuss exactly what needs to be done. They are hoping that maybe they can go in and save 60% but they aren't giving us a lot of hope. She can have the surgery in a month as long as she has it done before another episode.

Thanks for all your prayers.

Luke how is Norma doing?

We are still going to the hospital every day.
Her colon is doing better and we don't have to have the surgery right now. Its something that she can get a second opinion, and we will, before we do the surgery.
The main thing thats keeping her in the hospital is her hand. They were not suppose to touch her left hand AT ALL for anything. They put a pick line in her left arm and caused a blood clot to form. So now she is on blood thinners and her hand is turning a gray color due to lack of blood. She is in a lot of pain and had a morphine pump. Until her pain goes down and the color comes back she will have to stay in the hospital. And just think, that injury was caused by Cleveland County Medical center back in March. If it wasn't for that then she would be home right now.

So again I want to thank you for your prayers. We have a long road ahead but she is getting better.

Hope to see you all soon!

UPDATE:

We are at the hospital right now. My mom had surgery this morning to try to get a vein opened up from her elbow to her thumb, the radial vein. They went in and found about an inch of it with a blood clot in it so they removed a portion of the vein and graphed a portion of another vein in to get the blood flow moving. Right now her thumb is black and she is in jeapardy of losing her thumb and a portion of her palm. They were able to get the blood flow to her wrist but not the thumb but they put something in the vein to break up the clots and get the flow into her thumb. This afternoon she started to bleed thru the bandages. The dr came in and found that she was still bleeding and put pressure on it and was able to get it to stop. About 2 hours later I noticed she was bleeding thru again and they called the DR. She is now back in surgery and has been since 9pm. We are waiting for them to come get us and tell us what is going to happen.
Its a LONG hard wait and a worrisome wait. I just hope she doesn't lose her thumb or her hand.

Continue to pray for her.
