The first of a few exhaust evals that will be forthcoming in the next few days - feel free to ask any unanswered questions.

Pros

The highest torque produced from a system tested to this point, with Quicksilver range horsepower. The car was 2 or so hp down on the Magnaflow, but 2 or so ft-lbs up on the Magnaflow.

The sound is throaty and rumbles, in my opinion, nicely.

It comes in at 31 lbs, so it is lighter than the stock system (at 46 lbs).

Cons

The system is a veritable jigsaw puzzle. It is almost impossible to get it to hang just right both hot and cold.

The tips are somewhat lackluster, but that is of course subjective.

The sound is definitely louder than most ears are willing to put up with. Like I said under the pros, I like the way it sounds, but it is definitely a robust sound. It full on roars driving under an underpass!

I'm up in the air on whether I will even offer this system, based on the fact that after doing hundreds of exhaust installs on the MINI, I had a tough time with it. That just invites unhappy customers.

The pics of the system:

The numbers:

Horsepower over stock - 7
Foot pounds of torque over stock - 7
Price - $695

Let me know if you have any questions, and if you really want one, give me a call - but I warned you!

Two other evals to follow in short succession.

Randy,
Thanks very much for the review. 7HP and 7 torque is good and the big sound is also good. Not as nice looking but pretty near to the JCW kit exhaust in some ways. Any droning? Hard to say it is so new. Not too good that it has so many parts. If the install is not too easy for Randy- then it's not a good sign. The design looks flow through. Makes my quicksilver install look like a piece of cake. The tailpipe tips need more pizazz!

Next the UUC!

If Randy tells you it's tough to put on,it's way too tough.Have Randy sell you the Quicksilver. It's lighter and easier to mount. The more pieces an exhaust comes in the more places to leak or be misaligned.I've witnessed Randy do a 2 hour job in 30 minutes, when he crys wolf,us amatures should listen.

Those tips are ....uggghhhhh...., no me gusta senior! That, with that it uses the stock hangar brackets? I dont like the way it looks, with the exception of that beautiful y-pipe, put that on a magnaflow and you have one $money$ exhaust system.

Ugly tips, yes. But what about those of us that find the magnaflow's tips to be even uglier?

I knew this exhaust "sounded" too good to be true. Thanks for the review Randy. It's very much appreciated.

I just dont like that there is a lot of empty space in the tip cavity with the miltek setup. I would like to hear it though, mmm the soothing sounds of race exhaust.

Take a look at the size of the tips. You can photoshop three of those tips into the opening I bet.
One tip would be false and the other two real. Paint them black so you cannot tell which one is which.
Anybody for a three tip opening in the center? I bet it would make your dealer take a double look if you roared by!
Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
