Removing A Small Scrape Mark From The Clubman Rear Back Panel????
Removing A Small Scrape Mark From The Clubman Rear Black Panel????
OK, I realize I am very lucky, but today I was backing up and just barely touched a vehicle behind me. Absolutely no damage at all to other vehicle and the guy who owned it was right there and was actually more concerned about my clubman than his Tahoe! Real nice guy.
So, now I have this really small, round rub/scrape mark about the size of a large pea on the back corner of the car. It's on the black plastic panel at about the height of the taillight.
Since the panel is plastic, I am worried about trying to polish or compound it out. Any suggestions how I should handle this?
Thanks, Rich

Do the following in order
1.Thank God,the force or what ever higher authority you believe in that the man in the Taho didnt kill you.
2.Visit your Optomitrist and tell him you can see small marks but cant see big SUV's if he finds nothing wrong with your eyesight proceed to and do not skip step3.
3 Take driving lessons, (Pay particular attention to the part where they tell you to look where your going) (I really dont think a Taho can hide behind the bilnd spot on those mini barn doors)
4 Start saving your money for a new car now and those higher insurance rates which are about to come your way if you skip step 3.
5 Now that you have your new glasses examine the damaged area if its a rub try rubbing compound (rub extreamly lightly). if its a scratch or really a gouge learn to live with it congradulations you have just personlized your new vehical,Hey it could have been worse someone might have done it for you (dont park in the blind spot of that hummer).
Look at the bright side its in the back you won't see it when your driving.
2 questions
What part of the Taho did you hit?
Why arent you out motoring in your mini? There are those of us less fortunate who are still waiting for it to be built wk 36 arrival expected 10/7
If it's just unpainted black plastic just like the A pillar covers then try a plastic polish. Meguiars makes one: http://www.meguiars.com/estore/produ...ectionID=15101
I tried another brand on my A pillars which was covered in swirl marks and did not damaged he finish at all.

It is hard to believe that I didn't see the Tahoe, but it wasn't actually behind me. It was on an adjoining driveway right next to me on my passenger side to the rear. (and in what little defense I may have, he was actually parked partially on my side)
I was at a daycare center and was watching for little tykes on my left rear side. So, I almost did a backwards sideswipe with the Tahoe. I stopped just in time and barely touched the rear left wheelwell of the Tahoe with the rear corner trim on my car at about the tail light. No mark at all on the Tahoe and probably would not have left a mark on the MINI except that area is shiney plastic.
Again, thanks for the humor! I'm gonna try some really fine polishing compound if the plastic polish someone else has suggested doesn't work.

That's a good idea. And I've even got some plastic polish down the basement I think.
Thanks, Rich
