M7 vs. TSW springs.

I have the TSW installed last month, it ride well( stable on freeway but no too harsh around town) but the wheel gap is just a little bit too big(almost look like I never lower the car). It lower about 3/4" front and back but I would love to see the wheel gap disappear. I talked to Peter from M7 (very nice guy), and M7 springs seems like a nice way to go but worry about the ride quality( i would love to keep a reasonalbe comfort level). I wonder if anyone could tell me about their M7 experience. thanks.

Get bigger tires. 215/45-17 will make that wheel gap disappear, and ride quality might even improve.

i just installed the TSW springs and was concerned because i read your message. but my wheel gap disappeared (can only get one finger between the tire front and rear and the fender. i do have the 215/45/17 tires so maybe that is the difference. i was amazed at how much better the ride is and don't have the old "jounce" anymore on certain types of bumps. very happy initially with them. will see how they do long term.

I have M7 springs and love them You didn't say what ratio tire you use? 45's or 40's?. I lowered when I had 45's and the M7's rubbed a little, went to 40's and all is good I think the ride is very good also. I think I have some pics of the wheel gap in my gallery, hope this helps

I also have the M7 springs and 45's. Watch your tire pressures. I had a local tire shop put too much air in each and had rubbing issues over every bump. I also had rubbing with my Avon tires, but have not had any since switching to Falken. I suspect it is the tire shape since the Avon's had a squarer shape. I love the M7 setup now that my rubbing issues have been resolved.

I just replaced my M7 springs with the TSWs. I was tired of scraping speed bumps and other obstacles in the road. Turns out the M7 caused my front stock shocks to die after 20,000. Actually might have been sooner but they were totally blown when I changed springs. The TSWs raised the front end (from the M7s) by .75 of an inch and by 2 inches in the back. I expect them to settle a little in the next few hundred miles. I have a cabrio and the M7s had dropped it much more than I wanted. I like the look much more now. M7s much too low.

thank you guys! I will go for the 215/45/17 next to see how much wheel gap that i can elminate, currently i still have the oem run flat 205/45/17 but with new light wheels.

I still dont like the wheel gap but i think the comfort is the one that I want to keep after i read many review on M7 springs (harsh ride/too low). I guess I cannot have both.

The stnace on your car is already awesome. Don't ruin it with lower springs. Thhe 215/45/17 tire should do the trick.

I had M7 springs on my '05 MCS for about a year. I liked the look but got tired of the nose scraping, and feeling like the shocks were going to shoot through the upper strut mounts on every pothole etc. I replaced them with the TSW springs and couldn't be happier. Combined with 17x7 TD Pro Race 1s (ET45) and 215-45-17 Kuhmos I barely have any wheel gap, but plenty of suspension travel and a great ride.

I love the black wheels with the red stripe on your MINI!!

+1

I have lowered so many of my cars "too much" and always feel a bit of relief when I get it right and raise it a bit. Sometimes I have to remind myself that Ferarri's aren't slammed Honda Civics are, which one would I rather take after.

I have had the TSW springs on for a couple of weeks now and have to say the guys must have done their homework when designing them. Lowered enough to get rid of much of the gap, but rides so much better than stock. I have the webspokes with 215/45/17 ContiExtremes and they work fine. If the car is loaded down, I get a slight rub on the rear arch on severe bumps, but that's it. I think with a little trimming it will go away.

Hello everyone!
I Have been contemplating on these two springs for a very, very long time and I'm happy some took the time to write a thread on this subject. Many forums would say "do a search" or "search is your friend". This subject is going to keep coming up as new members come up with questions about their used or new Mini. Many times the search would come up with random threads having one word in the thread say M7 or springs and not really give you the answer your looking for. I think it keeps a forum alive to repeat the same question with new answers and new incite.
Any who!
From my research it seems that the the TSW's are truly the way to go in every aspect. Why? It doesn't lower the car to much keeping the right amount of geometry of the suspension but still highly improving on the handling yet giving a mild drop.
I would like to hear comments on the TSW's vs H-sports springs.

I know from other forum members owning the TSW's hearing their experiances, I might end up this week buying them and like many suggest, getting the rear swaybar to match.

tsw's + koni's=oh snap,I feel like a god!
Seriously,I have had this combo for a while now and it is impressive(stable & responsive).Add some camber plates to the front and you are golden. No worries on bottoming out.I'm thinking of moving from a 40/215 tire to a 45/215 to suck up wheel gap and add a smidge of "cush".(Better stiff than squish,I say). The great thing about tsw's is that they dont change stance/ride height/geometry-they just do what the OEM spring can't(perform).Replace the squishy OEM shocks, and even better!Good Luck

I had the same questions. I ended up installing TSW's springs and camber plates to complement a 19mm rear sway bar. It's a pretty sweet setup. Unless you're driving over potholes, the TSW springs feel just right.

If you decide on H-sport springs, PM me 'cause I have a brand new set that I'm willing to part with.

With all of this being true, I would like to add that TSW springs were tested on road, track, and shock dyno to perfectly match with OEM dampers. As long as your OEM dampers are in good shape, the springs are the only necessary part to install these springs!

Thanks for the offer as that was very nice of you.
As I was sitting in my office at work, on break I started reading the thread. I just said to myself "all hell" LOL... and brought the TSW's today LOL...and I brought the whiteline 20mm adjustable rear sway bar.
I hope I made the right choice on this setup for my little turquoise Mini!

A gentlemen that I'm talking to thinks I'm silly for investing money into my cars! I think its a fun hobby!

Now I gotta go drive my Subie!!! LOL.

You are correct. The TSW's are designed to work with oem shocks.I had the fortune of a contrast/comparison test. I ran the TSW's on he oem shocks for 3 months(great improvement).Installation of Koni's with TSW's delivered a significant change.
The difference made by the Koni's was huge.
