R50/53 MCS under MSRP?
Hi this is my first post to this forum.
I am located in Seattle and planning to order a 2004 MCS this month. I am looking out of state because the wait at the only dealer here is insane. I have emailed every single dealer in the US and found many dealers selling for MSRP with no wait (sept build, oct delivery) or a short wait (november delivery). These dealers are all located in the midwest (OH, IL, WI) or the east (LA, PA, NY). Since it does not matter to me whom I order it from, as long as I can get it at MSRP and quickly, it all depends on the transport charges. I guess the transport fee is about the same at around $900 for an open carrier? So do you think I could negotiate with those MSRP dealers and get a price under MSRP?
Also, if you could recommend any cheap but decent carrier (open is fine), I would appreciate it. Thank you!!

Welcome Vincent! Good luck on your efforts. You certainly have the right idea. With only 70 dealerships you have treat them as if they are all in the same town, competing with each other...
Vincent,
Check out the threads below for all you ever wanted to know about buying out of state. (Right now they're next to this Thread, so you probably have read them before asking your question.
Below MSRP. I don't think so, but you can ask. As far as shipping is concerned, my post in these threads explain what's available. The more the cheaper on a truck. Just remember what the weather will be like when you ship your car on an open carrier.
Best wishes.

maybe that's why there are no monster's in her... they were released in the Mini Showroom.

I bought mine from out-of-state and limited my shipping to $500. When the shipping costs turned out to be $835, the dealer reduced the MCS by $335. I know, I know... it doesn't really count but it could have been worse. They could have charged full MSRP and told me I would have to pay the full shipping costs.
And I would have too.
Floormats were thrown in at no cost.
In any case, set your comprehensive deduct. to as low as possible when you ship it and then raise it back to a normal amount upon arrival (after any claims). This way, you'll limit your out-of-pocket costs if something does happen to it.

Thank you all! You guys have been great help!
I did try to negotiate but it was not successful. It is one of the 2 dealers I found still have sept build dates. I tried to ask him for $750 below MSRP. He rejected it right away and said he would not go under MSRP (saying there isn't much profit in the car already). Since he still has sept allocations, I am probably going with him though. If not, I will definitely go with Julie Saxa at Classic MINI in OH or the 3 dealers in Chicago. Julie has been extremely helpful but she only has october build dates now.

Vincent,
I forgot to say welcome to MCO before.

The dealer is not lying to you on this one. If you get a fully decked MCS with all the options, their total markup is only about $2500 bucks. The less the car, the less they make. If you figure the cost of running a dealership, you'll quickly realize that they have to sell alot of cars to pay the bills at that markup. It's nothing like an American car where you can get about 15-18% off the sticker if you know what you're doing.

Yes I may order the aero kit there but I've found a good dealer to purchase a mcs at with the same production time frame and price.

>>She showed them her toe nails  i also got my car in under two months..
if you go in there thinking "i have to get this car" you're not going to get it under msrp...
some dealerships just wont go under... but i went to two dealerships that get a lot of business and sort of let them battle it out... it was a good situation for me and i'm very pleased.
