JCW Inlet Tube Install

Soooooo... I picked up my new Inlet tube today from the dealer. 77 Euros, so like 115 US Dollars, not bad.

Installation is easy as heck, just 2 hose clamps and a clip on the breather hose. All you need is a flat head screw driver and it shouldnt take more than 10 minutes. Just remember to swap the rubber spacer from your stock tube to the JCW tube so it makes a tight fit with the turbo.

It drives great, doesnt bog on occasion @ high RPM's like it used to, so overall im happy. Heres some pictures of the install...

I ordered mine yesterday. I was told the wait would be 2-3 weeks.

Maybe the relocation of the PCV intake point help to improve the air flow in to the turbo. I may take my Mini back to the dyno if and when I get mine to see if there are any gains.

Nice.. I think euro-spec is the closest to my Middle East spec.. would you happen to have the part #? I used the part number from another thread but my dealer says it wasn't showing on the system.

The dealers have been saying it doesn't show up- even mine in Cincinnati couldn't find it, but when they searched all MINI parts, not just r56 S, and included AG stock, they will find it. That's how I got the part!
so good to hear no problems with US spec! Ordered mine last week and it arrived 3 days later to Ohio from AG stock. Haven't been hearing any installs or even successful orderings here in US, so I was apprehensious about being the guinea pig

YES!! It fits score! Will have install and pics to collaborate with yours soon.

Anyone else have any luck ordering this part online in the USA? I think I found it online at pelicanparts.com but can someone confirm if it's the same part?

Yes, you can order it online at pelicanparts.com. The part number in the link seems correct. I also ordered mine online from pelicanparts late last year.

Did you use this part number? (the same posted early in this thread)

It's M13.71.7.582.453

Also, do you notice much difference in performance after installing?

How is this different/better than just getting the Alta inlet tube (which I have on the way via UPS).

How'd you guys get it to come up at Morristown Mini? When I try to put in the part number, it can't find it?! Is it cheaper over there than Pelican Parts?

Yes, that part number, I don't remember if the M is needed.

The tube is worth the price, the car feels quite a bit more responsive to me and the turbo also seems a bit louder. Worth the price and the easy install!

Just give them a call, I called and since all my info was on file, they ordered it for me immediately!

That's funny, I installed my alta inlet tube last week but today I installed the intercooler tube (alta) since I had it laying around.

I'm not installing the other tube on the pass. side of the engine compartment (I don't know what the name of that one is) because the JCW one is MUCH bigger than the one I had on my "S".

Can't tell a difference as of yet. I'll let you know what happens.

How did you like it? I'm actually hoping it's not significantly louder. A little bit of noise is good. I picked up the JCW CAI from OrangeCrush so I figure this would be a nice addition to go with it.

Honestly, I did not feel much of a difference with the new inlet tube. Maybe there is a small performance gain but it is probably not significant enough to feel it. Or maybe I am not pushing the car hard enough to feel it. The only other engine mod on my car is the JCW Stage 1 tuning kit. Your results may vary!

I haven't got the Stage 1 kit so I'm hoping for more of a noticable difference. I just got the JCW CAI (which is still sitting in a box at the office ) so with that eventually installed and the new inlet tube hopefully I notice a HP improvement of sorts.

Ric,

Just to make sure you understand, the JCW CAI (or any CAI) isn't going to make a seat of your pants noticeable difference. It will get more air into the system and thus allowing your ECM to compensate by adding more fuel to keep the fuel/air ratio correct but if you're looking for some extra HP, that's not going to be that noticeable.

Having said that, you will hear the engine more and the blow off valve so in your head, you may think it's faster....lol.

Just as long as I think I'm going faster, that's what matters
