I cannot decide the color.
Hi all,
I am about to order a 2009 Mini cooper S.
So here are my two choises:
-Dark silver/Black roof/bonnet stripes
or
-Chili red/Black roof/bonnet stripes.
Thanks,

I say DS/Bl with bonnet stripes. I'm just not a fan of the Chili Red...no offense to you Chilis out there, but it's just not my kind of color! The darker hues look soooooo good.
That's my suggestion.
Oh, what color bonnet stripes?

Do me a favor before ordering:
Drive to the store and count the number of silver vehicles you see on the road. They are literally every other car.
I'd go Chili Red/Black
or Pepper White/Black (saw one of these when I picked mine up and literally drooled).

That brings up a good point -- many buyers aren't anywhere close to a mini dealership (at least close enough to stop by and look at cars).
I'd suggest looking to see if there is a Mini club in your town -- if there is maybe you will get lucky and there will be a meeting this week so you can see some colors.

Those were my 2 choices too. I ended up going CR/Black roof and stripes. I loved the Dark Silver/Black roof and stripes too but the car I have been driving is silver and I didn't want another silver. Maybe next time!
MINI has done what other manufacturers done, give distinct names to common colors . MINI has gone a slight step further by giving their cars cute names [like Chili Red, Pepper White, British Racing Green], but at the end of the day the colors are red, white, green, blue, silver, black, yellow, etc.
To the OP, isn't color choice kind of a subjective and personal decision. All anyone is going to do in here is cheer lead how his or her color is the best MINI color.
Just get the color you want, that's what you are going to do in the end, anyway. Unless you agree to be bound by the color WE select for you.
Not entirely! I LOVE my Chili Red, but I was advocating a Pepper White/Black Roof/Black Bonnet stripes/Dark window tinting route. I'd even fork over for black rims if I were to do it again. :D
Heck... I'm saying that and I *just* got mine. :P
Huh? Seems to me that variations of silver have been out there as a popular color for what, maybe 35 years? Have been called all kinds of names, including "anthracite," etc., but in the end they are all simply variations of silver.

That aside, anything on the MINI looks great IMO.
Good luck!
This is the ONE aspect of your MINI that you should NOT listen to anyone's opinion on. The color of your MINI should not be decided by consensus on NAM ...it should be decided by YOU and you alone.
Sorry folks, I feel pretty strongly about this. Having someone else decide the color of your MINI is worse than have a stranger order your dinner at a restaurant ...and I doubt you'd try that!
Follow your heart ...it will lead you to DS. JUST KIDDING.

One thing to remember is the metallic paints are $500 more than the non-metallic ones. For me, that didn't matter as I ordered exactly what I wanted, but for some it might. Just another thing to consider.
I went expecting to buy a silver/black mini, changed my mind to a PW/Black mini, and then ordered a yellow/black mini, called a week later and changed to a chili red/white mini... and ended up with a chili red/black mini.
Let us know when you've changed your mind 5 times too!

I NEVER in my life have owned a red car and was set on buying another silver car (boring to me now...). WHen @ the MINI dealership, my eye was drawn to the red no matter how many times I looked @ silver! So I decided that I MUST have red.
Go to the dealership and just see what catches your eye....thats the best way to pick the color!
Good luck to you.

Well, here's a shocker, I'd vote CR.
But it's your decision. Best thing to do is try to see both colors on the lot. Failing that, there's bound to be photos of each on many of the threads here.
If I wanted to change from CR I'd be hard pressed between PW/B and DS/B both with bonnet stripes of course.

I cannot vote on anyone else's color. It's a personal thing. The bright MINI colors certainly stand out on the road - CR, MY, LB. Darker colors tend to blend in more. So, which do you want - to stand out or blend in?
I've been driving a 1989 silver Honda Prelude S since it was new in May 1989. I've loved the silver color and it still looks good today. Since I tend to keep cars a long time, I want a color that I know I'll like as much 10 years from now as I do today. For me, the "stand out" colors would be cool, but I know that I'd tire of them in a few years. So, my "on order" MINI is pure silver. I want to blend in more, and want to still love the color a long time from now. That's how I decided on color. The only other colors I even considered briefly were PW and BRG.
So, if you plan to keep a car a long time, pick a color that you really think you will like a long time from now. And also decide if you want to stand out or blend in. Hope that helps some.
