Another reason to love my MINI

Washing this thing is a breeze. I mean it takes no time at all to do a quality job washing it.

I do have a question though -- when waxing, should I avoid the Bonnet Stripes altogether, or what should I do about them? I've never had stripes on a car before so I have no idea.

Thanks,

I have found this forum immensely helpful in the proper TLC: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...splay.php?f=12

My understanding is that yes, you can apply wax to the stripes, but someone can correct me if I'm wrong. I will be getting stripes, but have to have the car first .

You can wax the stripe. It helps protect it.

Many of us use Hydro for waxing because it is so easy to do. Works quite well, too.

OMG I didn't know about Hydro. I just placed an order. My car will remain unwaxed until it comes in.

Can you use an Absorber towel to use Hydro?

Yep... you can use whatever you prefer as a drying towel. My choice... waffle weave microfiber towels from Griot's.

Okay....

1. What is "glass wax" and why are you using it on your MINI ? Besides the fact you have some left over, of course.

2. What is an "eeePC" ? A buffer that is really eeeasy to use ??

I'm gonna stick with using Zaino as I have for years, and will Zaino my stripes as well.

Hydro is pretty good, but just because it's a boutique product doesn't make it all that much better than stuff you can get locally like Meguiars or Mothers. As a matter of fact you may prefer the glossy look of carnauba wax (e.g. Meguiars) over the glossy look of synthetic wax (e.g. Hydro).

To be honest I like the idea that I won't have to go over the car a third time to wax it. Wash, and then Hydro while you dry. Sounds great to me!

I use Hydro after washing and then when I QD in between, I use Speed Shine from Griot's because it has a little Carnuba in it. Very nice, especially on darker colors.
