our value will hold

looks like the value of the mini will stay high based on this, which of course is good for us (at least for the time being):

I suspect you are right. MINI was very lucky to have such a strong offering available in light of the current gas crunch. Had the switch to the new Prince engine not taken place, MINI would not have been as well-positioned to be a leader of the pack. It will be interesting to see what the future holds.

resale value has always stayed high on MINI's ... but because of the gazillion different configurations, it might be tough to find a matching buyer for your specific car when trying to sell it.

also, MINI dealers are notoriously lowballing on trade-ins.

patience is key when trying to sell a used MINI.

The diesel-powered Mini is being studied for the United States, but it won't be offered here until it can be sold in all 50 states, McDowell said. He did not give a model year when the diesel Mini could be available in the United States.

Anything that has demand that out strips the supply stays with a high value.

Now if they could just put a MINI dealership in my back yard that would be great.

I see Mini's all over Dallas/Fort Worth.
I still haven't seen another Clubman!

If you're the silver clubman I see driving around Skillman/Walnut Hill area, than keep your eyes open for a HC/B Clubman with tinted windows that lives nearby...

As I was doing paperwork to pick up my clubbie, I discussed the 2010 diesel that is due to be in US. Will use the urea for emmissions to get the Ca. compliance per the article.
Since supply cannot keep up with demand and that should not change for at least a year, I expect values to hold very well.

Right on, I liked reading that. As for running into other Clubmans, I've seen two or three around where I'm at. The numbers are picking up.

I would just love a MINI diesel, despite the current dlesel prices. I think it will take a lot to get it to US standards, though...and at the expense of fuel mileage.

I think the US is going to start to see more and more diesels. The VW Jetta diesel is coming later this year and is 50 state compliant. If MINI brings a diesel I would have to seriously consider buying one.

I don't consider my clubman as an investment, but it is good news that it is going to hold it's value.

As for seeing other clubmans, I've seen maybe three in Orlando and all before I took delivery of mine.

If you make it over to Keller/Southlake/Watauga area, you might see my new PW/PW Clubman!
