New miniusa options?

Oh man! been struggling for months on my clubmans options. august order for october delivery. last week my girlfriend and i decided: sparkling silver/ blk roof, blk sports stripe, brn leath/clth * ( after seeing at the dealers lot ) factory body kit, blah, blah......

NOW, after being away and not configuring for the last 7 days ( i refuse to pay hotel internet access!) , NEW OPTIONS! What is ray cream!! white with blk leather? AND what's the difference between the rear spoiler $250. in step 3 under handling? and the clubman rear spoiler $365 in dealer installed? besides $115.

And will there be a new black? bye astro? i think the ray cream interior would look hot on a , lets call it, " Jet black"? with kit, chrome accents and chrome wheels? i'm thinking MONSTER!

I'm so CONFUSED! And only a lil more than a week to order!

The configurator you are seeing on MINIUSA.com is for the 2009 models. For whatever reason they updated the system early, as they are not building the 2009 models until October, per my MA (or was it August? Crap, I can't remember). However, you can still order the '08 models if your dealership still has spots available (however that works, lol), you just have to go to the dealership to get the correct color/package configurations and the correct '08 pricing.

your right , http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/07/...-configurator/ , jus found this. so if i order in august that would be a sept. build with delivery in october, not built in october, and would not be subject to 2009 prices nor options?

and what's this about dealer spots? i was never told this by dealer!

I think it really depends on the dealer you are ordering from. There are a few variables to contend with to be able to give a solid answer to that, such as if your dealership has a waiting list or not. Your best bet would be to contact the dealership you will be ordering from and ask them directly.

Well, don't quote me on the dealer spot thing, I may be misinterpreting information! The spots may be only for dealer ordered MINI's, not customer ordered ones, but I'm not completely sure to be honest. I'm still pretty new at this thing myself, so hopefully someone here with more experience can correct me and/or explain it better.

Every dealer get's a set of production allocations (production numbers) by type (Cooper, S, Clubman, Clubman S, ect) for the month (?). Dealers will option the production allocation they haven't pre-sold, and if sold prior to going into production, the customer can completly re option the vehicle.

So some dealers may have a allocation for the type you want that will go into production next week and bang, you have your car in a month. Or, you may be holding a place in a que, waiting for your turn to come up.

Did that help?

OWG and Reldieh, you both seem to have some knowledge when it comes to dealers.
Are the dealers that Busy? i've email a MA 3 times, 2 weeks have gone bye and no email response. and i checked dealerships site for email info and it was different from contact info so i emailed that address. NOTHING. called 40 min ago, no call yet.
maybe i need to contact another MA. i've visited steve at hassel in ny a few times and never really felt welcomed? last time was with my kids so they could check rear seat fit with the club door. briefly spoke bout demo on floor and mentioned MTTS in boston, which my girlfriend and i attended, and he wasn't interested or impressed. now that i think of it, " i need a MA IN NY AREA, can anyone recommend a dealer?

I really cant advise on NY dealers, just too far a field. I have heard (purely anecdotal) that MINI of the Hampton's does a lot of long distance business. If so they may have a culture more attuned to actually returning calls.

I think that in general the explosion of popularity is making the dealerships and their sales people very complacent.

That said, I think that you need to physically place yourself in front of a MA, with your credit card in your hand to get any attention today.

I am in the same configuration hell!

My husband and I have spent countless hours trying to figure out exactly what we want and I think we have it but I would love to know if anyone out there has, or has seen the black & cream cloth/leather combo. We have decided on the Nightfire Red color w/Black Roof/Bonnet Stripes and I think it will be H-O-T with the piano black surfaces, cream color line and those cloth/leather seats. But I am nervous to go that bold without having seen it.

Also, is there anyone with the standard leatherette seats out there? Do you like them? My DH is hesitant to spend the $$ to upgrade the upholstery, but I am thinking that if I am going to wait this long for a car, it better be worth it

Any other advice on options is also appreciated.

i'm ordering a clubman s, no nightfire color option but i've seen nightfire, the absolute nicest of all mini colors. i think that color combo would be smoking. but i also would love to see pics of new interior color. only thing it's new, so it'll be a while till someone can post. good luck on your quest towards perfection.

I live in Phoenix Arizona and have purchased my Clubman from Mini of the Hamptons. Jerry has been VERY responsive to my calls and emails. Like another poster noted, they do alot of long distance purchases.

If something is listed as Dealer Installed, order it via the factory instead, if possible. The dealers hammer us on LABOR.
Stripes, alarm, you name it, has a huge labor cost.
