Battery Problems

I have had to call for BMW/Mini Roadside assistance once to come and jump off my battery and now it's starting to grind again. Anyone else had battery problems from the Clubman?

What kind of grinding noise are you getting?

Not clubman but my MCSs battery died the first day I took it home. It was fresh off the boat and i guess the dealer didn't charge the battery. I put it on my charger to jump start it and drive it around for about an hour. No issue since. I am partially to blame as I was playing with the car for about good 2hrs (with the engine off) to get familiar with the controls (navi, etc). I drive it straight home from the dealer which is about 9miles away.

i assume by grinding noise, you mean the starter motor?

Get a volt meter and test the battery, anything under 10v with the car sitting i'd get a new battery, something spiral cell..spend the money get quality.

new car so it's still under warranty. i would just have it towed to the dealer and have them replace it and also test the charging system.

True it's under warranty...might want to get a second opinion from a local source. Shucks or a local shop...put only so much stock in what the dealer says...

Thanks for your insight and counsel. I think I will take it in and let the dealership look at it-it is under warranty and I will let them pay as long as they will!

Well it happened again today- the MINI left me stranded in the Kroger parking lot. I called MINI Roadside assistance and had them come and towed into MINI of Nashville- 80 miles away- I love my MINI-but this is the second time in a month- it has left me stranded!

MINI roadside assistance is good- my compliments to them- but a real pain to have a new MINI and within a month have to get it towed twice- if this keeps happening and they don't get it fixed- I will be a former MINI owner!

By the way-concerning MINI Roadside assistance- they told me they offer valet service for stranded motorist-but that is an extra charge- that's a bunch of crap!!!

Received the call from MINI of Nashville- it was a bad battery! They have replaced and so I should be up and mini-ing again tomorrow!

I still think (having to pay extra for valet service for MINI Roadside assistance) is a bunch of crap!
