How my MINI saved my life =)

so friday night july 18, 2008 my girlfriend I was driving back to her house. we where in the left hand lane and a car was coming out of a convenient store and just stopped in from of me. they didnt slow down in the lane to my right they actually stopped in front of me, and even if i slammed my brakes i wouldnt have missed them, so responding as quick as i could i noticed there was no head on traffic so in just a split second i dodged them jumping in to head on traffic and then jumping back in to avoid another car that was pulling out from a residential. but whether DCS kicked on or not i dont know, but i have to thank that in any other car at that point i wouldnt have been able to dodge the car and would also have to think that at 45mph when i had to dodge like that i would have over corrected and possibly spun, or flipped my car, thanks mini for "go kart handling "

Glad you're here to relay the story, Chris! It reminds me of BMW's old tagline: "Helping those who take driving seriously peacefully coexist with those who don't." I'm paraphrasing, of course, but you get the idea.

Keep motorin'

thats the "safety" part of the mini and other sports cars that is hard to quantify, so usually it just isnt. glad to hear youre alive and well after that, im sure your girlfriend was startled but thankful!

SAFETY FAST !!!

As MG used to say SAFETY FAST. That should be MINI's tag line. Glad you are both safe.

It's funny, because Mini has time and time again stated that their safety systems focus on avoiding a collision all together rather than collision safety. Which of course means it's meant to do exactly what you did. Glad you're ok. Now go to church and say thanks...

No kidding on the Safety Fast (trademarked).

One day I was driving the MGB. I had a clear lane in front of me (left lane), and several cars stopped in the right lane. The light turned green, and I kept going the speed I was, but something told me to keep and eye on the stopped cars. Sure enough, some jackass pulls into my lane from a stop to go around the cars in front of them, without looking. They pulled out, I went around them through the left turn lane (with concrete islands), and cut back in front of them. It was so fast, my thoughts were "Did that just happen?" Two quick flicks of the steering wheel. (My B handles better than a Mini.)
