Sad pictures to post of Schultze...

This morning I walked onto the front porch to bring in the newspaper and looked over at Schultze...I dropped the newspaper, SCREAMED and became hysterical...

Gold metallic spray paint was used on the passenger side, including the tires, powder-coated wheels and the rotor.

An unknown substance with grit was used on the driver side.

I feel like I've been kicked in the stomach...

Wow, that is horrible. Sometimes that is the trouble with having a Mini. Many are unique and if you **** off someone on the roads (unintentionally or otherwise) they have a better chance of finding you and retaliating. Or is this the first of the "I hate small foreign cars because of gas prices" shenanigans.

I am sorry and I hope it can be repaired to your satisfaction.

damn, what is WRONG with people ?

Sorry this happened to you and to Shultze, Erika. I know how you feel about your MINI and how I'd feel if that happened to mine.

As much as that sucks, at least there doesn't appear to be any scratches or other body damage. A good body shop may be able to remove that spray paint without harming the clearcoat or paint underneath.

I'll keep my finger's crossed that that will be the case.

Again, sorry there are haters out there and they did this to your MINI.

Erika, that is just terrible!
Hopefully the car had a good wax job on it, which might allow you to remove the graffitti without damaging the paint and wheels. I sure hope so.

BTW, just curious, but I have to ask about your icon and tagline. Rattle-Can Queen? That's a disturbing coincidence.

OMG I seriously cannot believe people. I don't know how they are raised (lower than wolves), but they have no respect for other people and not enough intelligence and compassion to think of the side effects for the person they violated.

I cannot fathom such wanton vandalism. Hope your MINI can get cleaned up as good as new. And I hope the SOB who did it gets caught, maybe at his next vandal-run, and thrashed.

That really sucks ! My condolences.... Nimcosi may have hit on something there, our cars are easily identifiable, just the other day a guy came to our garage sale and said "hey I've seen that car running around the neighbourhood" he admired the car nothing bad but it makes you think about the amount of times someone may have not liked what I did even so innocently or something some else did that I didn't like and maybe honked the horn etc. So I ask you this were any other cars in your vicinity sprayed?

How you can get it fixed to your satisfaction and pray it doesn't happen again....... I'm glad I have a garage. Best of luck to you

OMG!! Where on earth do you LIVE that people would do that!?! And was yours the only car in the neighborhood to get hit?

More sympathy, and fingers crossed for the cleanup.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!
Erika, I am truly sorry to see this happen. I can understand how you feel as I had something similar happen to my corvette. I had someone paint ball it and someone key it. I have told everyone that if I EVER caught someone doing this that they would have to bail me out of jail for what I would do to the idiots. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Try some laquer thinner. Don't bathe the car in it, just a little on a soft rag. It should remove the spray paint and not harm the MINI's factory finish. You may need to use some light rubbing compound after you wash it all off to remove any residue.

It seems that the punks threw brake fluid (or something similar) onto the driver side and then proceeded to spray paint the passenger side. There is "overspray" in the brake fluid.

If it's not brake fluid, it's something that has definitely etched the paint. Some hard scrubbing removed it from the glass, but there's still etching on the glass.

It's easier to list what wasn't damaged:

Both driver side tires/wheels
Rear passenger tire/wheel
Boot window
Boot
Rear bumper
Rear bumper valance
Sunroofs
Roof
Rain gutters

Here is the list of damaged areas:

Windshield
Driver side glass (both panels)
Passenger side glass (both panels)
Both A-pillar covers are etched
Chrome cowl covers (both)
Plastic cowl pieces under the chrome covers (both)
Windshield wiper housings (both)
Wiper blades (both)
Washer covers (both)
Chrome headlight rings (both)
3M headlight protection (both)
Front aero bumper
Black upper aero grill
All driver side panels
All passenger side panels
Aero side rocker panels (both)
ALL painted flair/trim pieces (except rear muffler valance)
Chrome/beltline trim
Passenger front tire & wheel
Rear driver side tail-light cover

Call your insurance company first thing in the morning, Erika. Report the claim.

Vandalism is covered under your Comprehensive Coverage. I hope you have a very low deductible.

I've stated it many times on this site before, so those of you who have heard the speech, sorry. But please, everyone, condider carrying a $100 deductible on your comp coverage. It's not much more expensive than a $500 deductible and covers SO many causes of loss that are out of your control.

Again, good luck, Erika !
