Last of the R52s

I have been hanging around NAM for about six week now an placed my order 6/11. I scan NAM numerous times a day and I have yet to find anyone who has ordered an R52 after me, other than the limited edition JCW going into production in a few weeks.

Am I the only one?

Yep...We're the last of the R52s

Picked mine up Thursday morning. The wait is SO worth it guys! Trust me, I know how hard it is...I've waited 4 years for this car.

I parked Elton next to Midge, an '08 MCS and he's smaller....I LOVE IT!

There are so many things I like about the R52 as opposed to the R56...they are just too numerous to count.

If you wanna see him, I created a gallery. I'm not very computer literate and don't have the patience to try to re-size pictures to the accepted size...I'm a point-and-click kinda girl.

It is my understanding that if you truly have one of the last R52's that it will be badged as such.
The last 100 are supposed to have some sort of special badging.

If anyone has ordered one of these could you please post pics to show what differences there may be from a regular R52?

katwmn1 : Did your dealer put the Roguemini eyes on your MINI or did you buy them and have them added before delivery?

Actually I think the only ones to get badged will be the last R52 JCWs

I guess that's what they meant when they said the last 100 R52's would be fully loaded and specially badged.
But to clarify, there will be no other type of R52 built as the last 100 come through the line other than fully loaded special edition MCSC JCW's
Boy I wish I could have one of those...

Most excellent gallery. I cannot believe how cool it is you have a home movie of the car being uncovered at the dealer. That has to have been better than many a Christmas.

Only bad thing is getting the first bugs and rock chips on that beauty.

Rock chips - yep - bound to happen based on the boulders they spread on the roads in Eastern WA, but if I can stand it, he's going to be garaged during the worst of the winter.

I think my husband had more fun taking pictures and stuff than I did getting the car...

Does your husband own a MINI?
Because if not then I caution you that he may have contracted MINI fever .
Look for the symptoms:
  • Takes many pictures of your MINI
  • Claims his car won't start and needs borrow your MINI to get to work (on a Saturday no less).
  • Volunteers to wash your MINI (3 or 4 times a day).
  • Calls all his friends to tell them about the MINI we just got.
  • Makes room in the garage for the MINI puts his out by the curb.
I caution you .. This is no laughing matter... Take prompt action if you spot any of the symptoms described above.

He doesn't and he has only driven Elton once. He DID make room in the garage, but for Elton and HIS car, a C320. I was driving an ML, so it took up most of the garage. Now Baby sits outside awaiting the winter.

I think he prefers his saloon car. He wears braces on his legs from a back injury and he isn't quite as comfortable driving a manual, but he sure enjoys riding in him!

Hello all-

My last of the r52's is sailing on the atlantic as we speak. The only info I can pass on is what the dealer told me. There will be special markings for the car put on at the port (badges, stripes, etc). Sorry thats all I have. The car is expected to be ready for delivery the very end of the month or early August. Will post pictures the very first day I get it. The excitement is building once again as I sold my Mini a couple of years back and I've missed it everyday since.

Congratulations on your new cabrio. There's a lot to like about the R52's. Elton will be a classic someday, while the Midge will just be an old car.

I don't know if your dealer has their last R52 spoken for but the dealer by my house has one coming in that apparently is not spoken for.
One the guys was trying to convince me to sell my current R52 so that I could buy the Black on Black JCW MCSc that they have been alloted.
From what they were telling me each dealer will get only one Special Edition R52.
I won't be able to buy this one but after test driving a R53 JCW I am sold on coming up with the money for the JCW tuning kit.

I ordered mine on 6/18/08. It's status was changed from "schedule for production" to "awaiting transport" last week. I was told that I got the last MCSC R52 from THAT dealership, but I'm pretty sure dealers in Dallas had a few slots open. I'm not even convinced that I'm in the last 100, based on how many ordering slots I saw available.

It's a PW MCSCm Sport Web Spoke. I didn't get the Premium because I hate auto climate control, so I got every option in Premium except Auto A/C and the Auto rearview mirror. My wife is short and we use the manual dimming lever to switch to "short driver" mode. Besides, sometimes my cars have to sit in the driveway, so programming the garage door opener would be a really stupid thing to do. Wow, did I get off topic, or what!

From what I gather, the actual last 100 with all be JCWs. I believe July is also the last month production of the non-JCW R52s

According to another NAM thread, the last 100 will not be special orders, but will be identical triple black JWC's with the special bulldog badge.

So you would have the distinction of owning one of the last 100 supercharged MINI's. Unfortunately, you would also have the distinction of being the only 100 MINI owners who didn't have any say in the options on your car and having one that is identical to 100 others. That, and triple black is hardly a choice I would take unless I lived somewhere so cold that I couldn't put the top down anyway.

Sounds like a good marketing idea to ensure that the production line can go right to the end without worrying about filling orders.

Don't forget about the 2000 GP owners (no customization at all, except for the no-cost options to include DSC and/or air conditioning) and the 1000 MC40 owners (don't know if there were any customization options at all for those).
