Oxygen Blue Owners - help me please!

Oxygen Blue Owners,
Please share with me what you did interior-wise including your likes and dislikes/regrets. My wife is going to get a 2009 Oxygen Blue and is having trouble coming up what she wants interior-wise. Thanks!

I would really recommend that she looks at as many different MINIs as she can, so that she knows what the different options look like. If your local dealer doesn't have a good selection, try taking her to a local MINI club meeting.

My husband ordered my car for me. For the interior he chose the standard headliner, fabric sport seats, chrome line interior and he added the armrest. Everything else is "stock". I had the armrest removed about a month after I got my car because it was in my way (and pretty useless). If I was ordering a new car I would upgrade to the anthracite headliner since it makes the front pillars match the rest of the car. I would also keep my fabric seats since I live where it's hot. The chrome line interior doesn't really matter too much to me - I could live without it.

My main pet peeve with my car is that I don't have rear fog lights. If you think your wife would be bothered by an incomplete row of toggles please remember to order both the front and rear fogs.

Good luck with your choices!!

My plan from the start was to customize my own interior so I went with the standard grey interior. So far I have the colorline in Oxygen Blue with a flat black dash that's soon to be checkered along with the door arches(pics in my gallery). The tuscan interior with the oak and chrome also looks really good.

I went with all the English Oak bits which is kinda classy looking for a fun color like OB, but I like it for the traditional vibe (pic in gallery). The dark wood really gorgeous and comes alive even more in the light. With black cloth seats and no extra chrome, my interior (with plain silver trim) is soft and understated, and the overall look is subtle....it doesn't scream at ya, but the wood makes it somewhat warm and dignified. Again, since OB is such a fun color, I think one could go many different direction...but I chose what I thought would work best for me and I have been very pleased.

Color Scheme: Anthracite, Fluid Silver Interior Surface, Chrome Line Interior...absolutely the BEST!!!
IMO...it is very hard to see the "outside" color when "inside" the car, so I made the interior as cohesive as possible. I do admire a nice pic. of Molly when I can see her in a window, a shiny trucks tailgate, or in MY Garage!!

Be sure (if you haven't already) to check out the Oxygen Blue Owner's Club thread...there'll be lots of pics there. Don't miss the shot of the checkerboard dash....also very cool with OB!!!

First decide what seats you want, the cloth or leatherette or leather and if you want the sport seats or standard seats. Then decide on the trim. I don't think exterior color matters much for what type of combination you want for the interior but the configurator is not going to allow you to put some odd combo that doesn't match the exterior paint.

I have the cloth sport seats. I like cloth (it is free) and I figured the sport seat would be a little more comfortable. I got the piano black interior surface because I liked the look but it does get dusty easily but cleans up easily also but finger prints do show. In 07 the Piano Black and fluid silver was $200 while the aluminum and wood was $300. They are all the same price now so now maybe I would select a different surface. You don't need to get any color line if you don't want to and it is the same padded surface but slightly lighter grey than the upper dash. This is the route I went and I like the look allot. I also did not opt for the chrome trim rings, I have the standard mat silver. I did not go for the anthracite headliner as I thought it made the interior feel like a cave. Overall I would say my interior is fairly conservative (for a mini that is) but I like the look.

I know cars are scarce on the dealer lots now but if you can, check out as many cars as you can at a dealer. Ignore the exterior color of the cars and just concentrate on the interior combos/colors/options and you should get a good idea of what you like. Another good place to see interiors is local meets/drives etc. Mini owners are very friendly and won't mind showing you their interiors.
